== Neutrality ==

Some of the comments have been written with undue negativity.

"This is part of a doubtful rejuvenation plan aimed "to bring the town into the 21st century and to attract more visitors"" - why is it doubtful?

"The Festival Leisure Park is colloquially known as "Bas Vegas", and is a well known trouble spot, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, usually fuelled by alcohol" - living close by I can confirm there is no more trouble here then any city centre at the same time - in fact probably less trouble. So to call it a trouble spot is inaccurate.

Neutrality

Some of the comments have been written with undue negativity.

"This is part of a doubtful rejuvenation plan aimed "to bring the town into the 21st century and to attract more visitors"" - why is it doubtful?

"The Festival Leisure Park is colloquially known as "Bas Vegas", and is a well known trouble spot, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, usually fuelled by alcohol" - living close by I can confirm there is no more trouble here then any city centre at the same time - in fact probably less trouble. So to call it a trouble spot is inaccurate.

Disputed / Inaccurate Sections

"Barstable School & Chalvedon School became federated in 2005 to become The Federation Of Barstable & Chalvedon School. This was initiated by the need to stabilise and improve Barstable School's reputation as a good secondary school."

- Regarding the above line - the same could be said about Chalvedon's reputation, so I vote this line gets removed, or at least revised.

In the notable people section Kurt cobain is mentioned, why? there is no record of him having any connection with this place, i refer you to the wikipedia entry on kurt cobain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.123.86 (talk) 14:55, 30 June 2009 (UTC) Also who is Ben Jepson - Future World Leader,Pro Footballer and Smartest Child In Europe. This sounds like childish nonsense and is obviously not correct as it contains opinion not fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.123.86 (talk) 14:58, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a new article (and what happened to the talk page?)

I am working with a friend User:Craker to make this a better resource. So far information was quite scarce on this page. Me and User:Craker should be working hard on this to make it better. We both live in Basildon so it should be useful.

Famous People

Would Old Man Stan be considered a famous person? He is very well known, but is in fact a puppet. Do I add him or not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.96.169.76 (talk) 09:00, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but I have repeatedly added my arts group details to this page about Basildon and they are repeatedly removed. Clearly Mark Crosby of Gateway FM has quite a lot to do with this page as he owns most of the sites that do get linked to on here. I am asking whoever this is to be fair and please leave our link alone. It has as much right to be here as yours do. I don't know a very much about Wikipedia, however I assume that Wikipedia has a complaints procedure. I will persue this if necessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.4.75 (talk) 14:06, 24 February 2011 (UTC) [reply]

I have removed your link, and many other useless links. Do not add you link back; it clearly has no value for this article. Why do you believe you have a right for your link to appear on Wikipedia? Wikipedia is not a place to dump your advertisements. If anything, you are being unfair: other businesses are actually paying to advertise on the Internet; you are free riding. Since you don't know much about Wikipedia, here's a brief introduction: Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia with encyclopaedic material ONLY. Bbosh (talk) 14:05, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Keep your hair on! Just came across page and saw other community concerns displayed.. btw we are not a business, but a community group run by volunteers. After seeing other community groups displayed considerd that I should have equal opportunity. Now that you have cleared it up though I am grateful. If I wanted to pay for advertisements the last place I would pay for is Wikipedia. So no free ride expected here. The 'right' was a 'right' in reference to the other urls assumed 'right'. Not an attack on anyone legitimatley editing this page :) Hope thats ok for you.. you little keyboard gangster you ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.4.75 (talk) 10:36, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Festival Leisure Park

The article Festival Leisure Park is currently undergoing a nomination for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Festival Leisure Park. Should its contents be merged into this article. Ksbrown 17:16, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Complete Edit

I have just finished editing the whole article; tags will remain until other have checked / adjusted / edited. Some of it was sounding scarily like a travel brochure, or was written in the sort of language the council might use to describe it ("while the green acres of Gloucester Park with its lakes, is just a short stroll away"). More review still needed though, particularly on the Notable Persons and the In Popular Culture bit (Trivia template perhaps?)Jarry1250 (talk) 18:14, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Still more work needed

This article is a real dog's dinner. I've removed some violations of NPOV, potted histories of local schools that are not referred to elsewhere, and other irrelevancies. I propose to remove the many statements that have been flagged as Citation Needed, please shout if you object. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TonetheBlade (talkcontribs) 00:14, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
