On this Ghazani told the people that no such God exists, if HE exists then the Entrance of the temple would change its direction from East to West. (Every Temple of Lord Shankar has its door facing east.) If so happens, he would, then, leave the temple untouched & will never come back for it ever. The next morning, when Ghazani came to destroy the temple he was surprised to see that the Entrance of the temple has changed from East to West. On seeing this, He left the temple as it was.

Barhampur is a City as well as very famous Hindu religious Place in Buxar district of Bihar State. There is an old temple of Lord Shiva. People from all over the country come here to perform religious rituals.

Barhampur is situated at 25°36′00″N & 84°18′10.9″E. It is surrounded by many small villages like Raghunathpur, Purva, Nimej, Garahtha etc.

Transportation

Barhampur is not directly reachable by railways. Nearest Railway Station is Raghunathpur, which is 3 KM from here. It is directly reachable by roadways. NH 84 goes through Barhampur.

Hospitals

Primary Health Care Center is allotted for Barhampur by Government which is located at Raghunathpur. There are many private hospitals in Barhampur.

Education

There is Brahmeshwar Nath High School for study from class 6 to 10 & four Govt. Primary School & near about 10 Private schools in Barhampur. For higher studies, students for Buxar, Ara or other places.

Tourism

Barhampur is a very good place for Religious people for tourism. Many people from Ara(Bhojpur) District, Buxar district, Ballia District & Chhapra District come here to perform pooja of Lord Shiva.

Economy

People of Barhampur is dependent on agriculture. Some people go out of Barhampur for earning money.

The languages spoken are Bhojpuri, Hindi, Urdu & now some people also speak English.
