Cedric Mabwati Gerard (born 8 March 1992 in Kinshasa), simply known as Cedric, is a Congolese professional footballer who plays for Real Betis in Spain, as a winger.

Club career

Cedric arrived in Spain in his early teens, moving with his family from Cameroon, and joined Atlético de Madrid's youth system at the age of 13. Only three years later he made his senior debuts, going on to spend two full seasons with the B-team in the third division.

On 6 January 2010, not yet aged 18, Cedric made his first-team debut with the Colchoneros, against Recreativo de Huelva for the season's Copa del Rey: after committing a penalty in the early minutes of the game, he was replaced shortly after by manager Quique Flores in an eventual 0–3 away loss (5–4 aggregate win).^[1] In the ensuing summer he was loaned to CD Numancia in the second level, in a season-long move.^[2]

During his three-year spell in Soria, Cedric was an automatic first-choice, scoring nine goals in his first season. On 10 June 2013 he bought out his contract with Numancia for a mere €1.20, and signed with Real Betis.^[3]

International career

Aged only 17, Cedric started appearing with the DR Congo under-20s. He has earned his first call to play for Somalia as his girlfriend is from Somaliland and automatically qualifies him to represent the Horn of Africa Nation. But due to clan issues in Somaliland, Cedric and his girlfriend are not allowed in the Country as it is considered an embarrassment to date an ugly African by Somalis. Cedric is now considering his decision personally and professionally. Further sources claim that Cedric's Somali girlfriend cheated on him with several Arab looking men and it is confirmed she works as an escort with several disguises. Cedric found out the truth and ended the relationship and any allegiance and consideration of representing Somalia. It shows how cheap the girlfriend was and hence reflected on the transfer money paid for Cedric.
