History

Early life

Danny Robert Worsnop was born to Sharon and Philip Worsnop on the 4th of September 1990 at the Beverley Westwood Hospital, East Yorkshire, England. He has a sister named Kelly. He lived and was brought up in the English countryside in the small village of Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire, and grew up and was educated there before attending York college in 2007.

He began playing music at the age of six. Over the years he studied the trumpet, violin and guitar. [citation needed]

Asking Alexandria (2008–present)

Worsnop met Ben Bruce online and the pair lived together in York. There they began writing music and Asking Alexandria was gradually formed. This was mainly stated by Danny Worsnop himself on his official Facebook account.[citation needed]

Asking Alexandria's debut album entitled Stand Up and Scream was released on 15 September 2009, through Sumerian Records. The album's title is derived from the chorus of the album's second track "The Final Episode (Let's Change the Channel)". The album peaked at 170 on the Billboard 200, 29 on Top Independent Albums, and 5 on Top Heatseekers.[3]

Asking Alexandria's second studio album entitled Reckless & Relentless was released on 5 April 2011, via Sumerian Records. The album's title is derived from the title track "Reckless & Relentless". The album peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200.[4]

Asking Alexandria's third studio album is entitled From Death to Destiny, it is set to be released on the 6th of August 2013, via Sumerian Records.

Alcohol and drug addictions

Worsnop's heavy consumption of alcohol and drugs drastically affected his vocal range between Asking Alexandria's debut album Stand Up and Scream and their sophomore album Reckless & Relentless. On Stand Up and Scream, Worsnop's vocal range was considerably higher and as a result he could sing impressively high notes, whereas on Reckless & Relentless his range was deeper, and while he could still sing high notes, his voice sounded considerably deeper and much more coarse as a result of the alcohol and drug abuse. However, this change improved his screaming abilities.

Worsnop had an incident in Seattle where he became heavily intoxicated before the show. At one point, guitarist Ben Bruce took to the microphone and said, "Let's do a vote right fucking now. Who prefers Danny the way he is [now]? That's like three people." Worsnop began to interrupt, but Bruce said, "Ignore him. Who here will support us in putting my best friend through rehab and making him better?" As the crowd cheered, Bruce said, "Thank you so fucking much. Fuck you, Danny. Ignore everything he says. Thank you for supporting us. Who here wants us to play another song — despite Danny?"[5]

The following day, Worsnop got on his twitter and tweeted: "I'm a fucking idiot. I should never blame my actions on my relapses but tonight made me realize I have a problem. I for the first time in my life want to fix myself. I now know what regret is! I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Hopefully I grow to have some sort of compassion to myself, I live for self destruction and that's wrong. Nothing changes when you're killing yourself with poison. I love you all. And I hope you can forgive me. I officially am quitting drugs and getting drunk here and now. I want to clean up and sort my fucking life out. I'll never stop hating myself until I stop killing myself. Thank you all for standing by me. If any R&R shows get canceled, I'm away fixing Myself. I hope you understand."[6]

Worsnop went to rehab which helped him eliminate his drug and alcohol addictions, and as a result, he is now sober. In an interview with noisecreep, he says, "This last year we all witnessed my demise — my plummet — my fall — and my rebirth. After what was a couple years of dangerous drinking and drug use, I hit rock bottom. It was a long recovery process but we are all in a better place now that I'm completely sober. So now no drink or drugs — none. It's been an interesting lifestyle change — yeah, I'll use the word "interesting," laughs Worsnop.[7]

Vocal cord injury

Near the end of 2012, Worsnop had a torn vocal cord and was unable to perform in some shows on their tour. The band Asking Alexandria performed songs without Worsnop on various shows until eventually, Worsnop came out on stage to explain that he tore his vocal chord and wouldn't be able to perform, but that the singers from I See Stars, Attila and a roadie will be temporarily performing the vocal role.[8] Also, friends of Asking Alexandria that were on the tour with them such as As I Lay Dying, Attila, I See Stars, and Memphis May Fire helped provide vocals on various songs.

Worsnop was sent to a vocal specialist to help him get his vocal cords healed to get back on track and to be able to finish recording vocals for Asking Alexandria's third studio album and move on to the next tour. After seeking treatment from vocal specialist Dr. Sugerman, Worsnop felt he is on the path to recovery and he decided to let fans in on the process by shooting a video with the doctor showing one of his recent sessions. The clip was filmed approximately two weeks after the singer's initial treatment. In it, the viewer gets to see Worsnop's visit with Sugerman, the singer's description of the flex camera and the doctor's eventual shots of Worsnop's vocal cords. After the band's recording for the forthcoming album was completed, Worsnop decided to take a break in order to rest his voice for the upcoming tours.[9]

Worsnop has also been a featured artist on songs by several artists:

Solo

Worsnop has begun to work on his solo album and is going to have a different sound than what his fans are used to. The release date for the album is still unknown, but the album should be through Sumerian Records. He has released a preview of his song "Photograph". Worsnop tells Loudwire that "Photograph" is much softer than the rest of the album; "it's more of a ballad." The overall sound is a huge departure from what you'd expect from Asking Alexandria and finds Worsnop exploring a more mainstream rock sound. In an exclusive talk, Worsnop was asked for all the details.[11]

He has continued to work on it and has finally released his first solo single "Savior".[12] On his twitter, Worsnop said, "I hope you all enjoy it. Yes, it's a ballad. They're all gonna be different".[13] With the release of this single he has officially started his solo career in the music world.

Books

Worsnop has written a book titled "Am I Insane?" which is an autobiography. On his Tumblr he has said, "Today I spent a good few hours on the phone and online applying for college to pursue my degree in photography and writing for my book. I figured what better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than by taking a beautiful picture of myself and sharing an exert for you all to ingest."[15]
