Glen Hills Primary School is a coeducational primary school with academy status in Glen Parva on the South Western boundary of the City of Leicester, serving the surrounding area of mixed private and council developments. The school is in the County of Leicestershire.[1]

For their final junior year (Year Six), the children normally transfer onto South Wigston High School. For year 9 parents may send their children to Countesthorpe College, Guthlaxton College or another secondary school of their choice. The school is currently in consultation to recover its year 6,[2] meaning that children would remain at Glen Hills for the whole of Key Stage 1 and 2.

Ofsted

Glen Hills has been assessed as Outstanding by Ofsted since 2008.[3]

History

Originally the entire school was housed on the Cork Lane site; the infant department being brick-built, and the juniors' housed in a wooden building. The date on which the new infant unit on Featherby Drive was built is not clear, but the school was certainly all on the same site in 1972. Until Autumn 2001 the school was on two sites with the Junior Department on Cork Lane and the Infant and 4+ Unit on Featherby Drive. A million pound Junior Department was completed on the Featherby Drive site. For the first time Glen Hills School is all on one site and in modern purpose built buildings.

Glen Hills Primary School was registered with Companies House on 8 February 2012.[4] The school converted to academy status on 1 March 2012.
