Hi. Would you care to comment at this post? It is about the infobox for an album article and its "cover" and "released" field. Dan56 (talk) 18:57, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Strange user/contribs

Hi Malik. Here's some weirdness I found: [1]. Not sure what to make of it. INeverCry 20:37, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The "series" appears to be a hoax, so I tagged the article and templates for speedy deletion. I'm not sure whether the Username violates our policy. What do you think? — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:49, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the name along with the hoaxing would bring it under #Confusing usernames? INeverCry 21:00, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking about that one too. It's a moot point, though, because another administrator has blocked our friend as a Username violation. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:29, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There's more username blocks where that came from, but I'm done for now. Here's a couple sockpuppets in case you want a change of pace. Sadowski doesn't look to be around at the moment. INeverCry 21:48, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for these blocks. I posted an email on checkuser-l about this, and A CU has handled it for the time being. INeverCry 03:41, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Thanks for everything. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:49, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why you're getting a 3RR ping

Departments of Colombia

"I don't think a five-year-old discussion is good reason to undo a one-year-old move." - It is not the reason! The reason is that the move was undiscussed and that it violates the WP naming convention for geographic names in Latin America.

And it was contested earlier than a year, but it could not be reverted, because the revert target was edited. The naming convention for all departments, provinces, districts in Latin America is to use upper case.

But the departments pf Colombia have been renamed by a single user in one run, namely by Waldir.

What else does it need to revert this undiscussed move of Waldir? Pedro Gonzalez-Irusta (talk) 01:17, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored all your move requests. I'm about to take a dinner break, so another admin can perform the moves. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 01:29, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Malik, I saw you've looked at some edits from someone interested in Gil Scott-Heron, and to my surprise he still needs a bunch of albums written up. I made a start--your help is appreciated. Drmies (talk) 01:21, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's a shame that there are some of his albums without articles. I'll see what I can do when I get some time. Hope all is well with you and the family. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 01:32, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, very well, thank you--I hope this message finds you well also. This is the first time I heard this album since...I don't know, 1984 or so. At the time I knew nothing of America, let alone about black America. I ordered it on Amazon (the compact cassette is gone)--I wonder what I remember about the last tune, and if I remember what it felt like then. All the best Malik, Drmies (talk) 01:51, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Conley Abrams III article deleted

Conley Abrams III, wiki page deleted, this is a 30 year hip hop pioneer, engineer and producer. He worked with groups as diverse as Michael Jackson to Tupac Shakur to Australian Pop star Samantha Jade, and was a major part of the recording industry in the 90's. References to him in other wiki articles from recording artists currently exist on wikipedia, if his page is reinstated contributors could further his influence on the West Coast music scene. Culture Shed Deletion

Hi Malik,

I'm writing to contest the deletion of the Culture Shed page. My sense is that the page doesn't meet the criteria for Speedy Deletion:

1. It is not exclusively promotional. The page provides a large amount of factual information that has been reported widely in reputable media sources, including New York Magazine and the New York Times. These facts are cited extensively within the article, and include information about the building's proposed location, its architecture, the construction schedule, and the proposed mix of cultural programming.

2. It does not require a fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic. The bulk of the content is neutral and factual encyclopedic material, provided with citations. The few sentences and phrases that might be interpreted as promotional can be easily removed without major modifications the article as a whole. I'd be happy to make those edits and and then have this discussion again if you think the article is still too promotional.

Furthermore, I'd note that Culture Shed is a notable organization that, as mentioned above, has been covered by multiple reputable media sources. It is a major cultural project in New York City -- similar in scope to the Park Avenue Armory, the Museum of Modern Art, or Lincoln Center -- and it should be covered on Wikipedia.

I'd be happy to discuss this further, and I hope that you can reconsider the deletion.

Thanks, Tim

I think you're thinking like a publicist, not a Wikipedia editor. If you'd like to write a new article about Culture Shed, please summarize in your own words what reliable sources have written about it. Avoid fluff like "an expansive view of culture rarely seen in a single location". As an alternative, try WP:Deletion review. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 01:04, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your quick reply. My understanding was that articles are eligible for Speedy Deletion only if they require a fundamental rewrite to become encyclopedic. In this case, there are a few fluffy sentences, but it seems to me that they aren't so fundamental as to qualify the entire article for deletion, especially since much of the article is more neutral in tone. Is there a chance that the article can be undeleted and subjected to review again once the questionable sentences have been removed? (Forgive me if it's better to have this conversation in WP:Deletion review, I'd he happy to head over there.) --2x4 Tim (talk) 01:37, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored it at User:2x4 Tim/Culture Shed, where you can work on fixing the page's promotional tone. When you're finished, follow the instructions at WP:Moving a page to move it back to Culture Shed. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:38, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
