Bewakoofiyaan is a 2014 Indian romantic comedy film directed by Nupur Asthana, written by Habib Faisal and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film features Ayushmann Khurrana, and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. The theatrical trailer was launched on February 6, 2014 which was coldly received by Critics and was unable to create the desired buzz for the movie.[2] The music of the film was released on 19 February 2014; it was also received with mixed response from critics.[3] The film released on March 14, 2014[4] which was also the start of T20 Cricket World Cup. In trade experts' opinion World cup being played during the first week of a movie's release is going to affect the movie's business.[5]

Development

The film was announced in December 2012.[8] The film is written by Habib Faisal (of Ishaqzaade fame) and directed by Nupur Asthana (of Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge fame). The film was described as a "slice of life" film, set during the time of recession. Ayushmann Khurrana's and Sonam Kapoor's characters are described as being "passionately in love" and believe that their love can help them survive, however Kapoor's father, played by Rishi Kapoor, strongly believes against this.[9]

Casting

Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonam Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor were cast in December 2012. Ayushmann and Sonam are paired opposite each other for the first time, with Rishi Kapoor cast in the role of Sonam Kapoor's father.[10]

Filming

Shooting for the film began in February 2013[11] in Delhi and Gurgaon.[12][13] Part of the filming planned in Dubai and cast was shooting scenes for the recession comedy Bewakoofiyaan.[14][15]

Critical Reception

Movie was received as average by critics. There is nothing spectacular about Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bewakoofiyaan. [16]

Soundtrack

The soundtrack for the film is composed by Raghu Dixit, while the lyrics are penned by Anvita Dutt, except where noted. Dixit was also the music composer for Asthana's last film, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge.[18] The song O Heeriye is a bonus track in the film's soundtrack.
