Drumbeat: Hardegen's travel guide map/lack of mapping

I'm just finishing off reading a book about the Atlantic war, (I'll add book info and reference ASAP). One thing that is in dispute though, is the assertion that Hardegen and the other U-Boats involved in the operation, lacked mapping due to disorganization.
