"Deep Breath" is the first episode of the eighth series of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who, scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One on 23 August 2014. It was written by showrunner and executive producer Steven Moffat and directed by Ben Wheatley.

The episode will star Peter Capaldi in his first full episode as the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor, along side Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara Oswald.[3] It will also feature Neve McIntosh, Catrin Stewart, and Dan Starkey reprising their roles as the Paternoster Gang.[1][4]

Filming

Shooting for the episode took place at the Maltings in Cardiff on 7 January 2014,[5] and later at Mount Stuart Square on the 13th.[6]

Broadcast

The episode will be broadcast on BBC1 on 23 August 2014.[3][7] It will also receive an advance showing in Cardiff on 7 August 2014 as part of the series 8 world tour.[8][9]
