Karrueche Tran (born May 17, 1988), is an American model, fashion stylist and actress.[1]
Early life
Tran was born May 17, 1988 in Los Angeles, CA.[1] Her mother, Cindy Adamson is Vietnamese and her father, DeVon Minters is Jamaican. Tran first attended high school at Fairfax High School before her family moved to the Valley. Tran graduated from Birmingham High School in 2006. [2] From 2006-2008 Tran attended Pierce College where she majored in Graphic Design.
Career
Tran began her career in the fashion industry as a personal shopper. From 2009-2012 she worked at Nordstrom located at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park, CA. After her career in retail, Tran worked as free-lance celebrity stylist in Hollywood. She first gained notoriety when she began dating former boyfriend, R&B artist Chris Brown.[3] Tran landed her first major modeling job in 2013. She posed as the face of Lady Crooks, the women's division under the streetwear brand Crooks and Castles for their Summer 2013 collection.[4] Tran was also featured in the Spring/Summer 2015 lookbook for Korean-based athletic brand Le Coq Sportif.[5]
Tran has also appeared on the covers of Rolling Out,[6] Flaunt Magazine,[7] Ouch Magazine, The Hundreds,[8] Cliche Magazine, Bleu Magazine[9] and Annex Magazine. In June 2015 Tran had two feature stories on ELLE.com.[10][11]
Tran is also featured in volume one of the photography book, Love West Coast Girls by celebrity photographer Mike Miller.[12]
Tran currently co-stars as Vivian Johnson in the Emmy award-winning web series The Bay The Series. She also appeared in the TV One movie The Fright Nite Files (2014) and 3 Headed Shark Attack in the Summer of 2015. (IMDb)[13] Tran has also gained recognition for her performance as Vanessa Ivy in popular fashion web series by StyleHaul titled “Vanity” which is sponsored by the international makeup brand Maybelline.[14] In 2014, Tran hosted the BET Awards red carpet and multiple events during the official BET Weekend Previously she co-hosted the popular BET show 106 & Park.
Tran is currently managed by Jacob York of Electric Republic.
Personal life
Tran was in a relationship with R&B artist Chris Brown. She broke up with him after she discovered he had a child with former model Nia Guzman.[15] In June 2015, Tran was involved in a confrontation with Chris Brown outside of the Playhouse nightclub located in Hollywood, California.[16][17]
March 28, 2015 The Karrueche Tran interview aired with Iyanla Vanzant. She was confronted with questions directly about her relationship with Chris Brown. Tran mentioned that she received a call from Chris Brown before TMZ broke the news about his 1 year old daughter. As of March 2015, Tran and Chris Brown are no longer together.
