== [[Audley Retirement]] ==

Hi Jimfbleak. I think you were dealing with my colleague, Anastasiageva, on amends for the Audley Retirement page (October/November). I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I'd be working on the page to try to add more references and try to get it to follow the notability guidelines. Any pointers you have would be more than welcome. I understand I might have to declare a conflict of interest - please let me know if this is the case. Revision as of 11:24, 5 January 2016

Please add your message to the bottom of this page, give it a heading and sign it using four tildes ~~~~.

I've gone to some effort to attempt to track down some of the pages that were too-hastily deleted. These are the ones I've found, but you'd know better than me what the set of pages was, and hopefully you can help us restore them (and their talk pages) again:

Replied on user talk page. declining restoration for now due to issues with notability and spamming (links to sales sites instead of refs) Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:08, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see where you're coming from. As someone unfamiliar with the genre and with the world of self-published music and small-time labels, it's very difficult to distinguish between apparent promotional material, and simply linking to the original proof that these albums exist (which are necessarily the very sites that sell the albums).

Could you instead restore the articles with a {{{{AfDM}}}} template and open up a Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion page for each like what's been done for Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Sublight_Records and a couple other pages now contested due to this recent activity? They may not look like much, but these are actually incredibly popular records in the electronica music scene, many of which have hit the #1 charts on music torrenting sites like What.CD - which are understandably hard to use as evidence as they compete with the for-profit music distribution organizations that are used to establish notability among so many other genres. (For what it's worth, if you don't have an account, here's a screen shot showing that one of the above deleted albums is the 22nd most downloaded album of all time on popular site What.CD, which is an astonishing achievement for an artist who is unpromoted and on a self-publishing label.)

One anonymous poster on The Flashbulb's discussion page has put it quite well: "...the added complexity of an artist that prefers not to do many mainstream interviews. Both his | Chicago Tribune and aforementioned Sun Times pieces took the cover of the weekend editions of 2 very mainstream media sources. It cannot be linked directly, but even his Spotify plays/rankings for his top songs double and triple similar artists who are friendlier with the media like Squarepusher or Venetian Snares. If we're erasing a decade of users' work creating this page, then we should be removing a lot of other well-known electronic artists from Wikipedia under this precedent. If the content of the page is weak, then update it. But removing a page of an artist with millions of music streams and Youtube views, let alone 20-something physical albums is just going to continue this troll's cat and mouse game."

I believe that there's not enough justification right now to unilaterally delete all of these pages without further discussion at this point. I'm sure if the pages aren't sufficiently fleshed out there will be renewed efforts in the community to add the required reference material with the threat of deletion looming, but this is impossible to do without being able to edit the old articles or their talk pages, or even view their history. Need your guidance on creating a page for Komal Jha - Actress

Hello There !

I am Chinth - a hobby content contributor for both computer technical and entertainment related contents.

I would like to contribute to an article on Komal Jha - Actress, who has acted in some regional movies in India. I went through your speedy deletion comments and I understand that some writers in the past have contributed biased contents on the article. I wasn't getting the point of speedy deletion and hence I had commented too. I would want to create a neutral information page on the same personality with the due references to the fact files based on popular news papers or legitimately popular articles, which are published since a few years. I believe it makes a candidate for encyclopedic content. Still, since I am fairly new contributor to the Wikipedia, I want a little of expert guidance. Could you please help out in this regard?

Thanks Ch.th (talk) 19:11, 28 December 2015 (UTC) Chinth[reply]

Hello Jim, Thanks for the response ! Yes, indeed. I would not want to rush the recreation of the page and mess up. I would like to take my time in drafting and getting it reviewed by you or any other fellow contributors before publishing it. Also, please note that I am *not* being compensated either directly or indirectly for contributing the article. I shall make my best effort to keep the write-up as neutral as possible, without any extempore. Hope this works ! Ch.th (talk) 01:10, 30 December 2015 (UTC) Thanks - Chinth[reply]

Why did you delete something that is in my 'sandbox'?? As far as I know it is not published yet. I am still writing it. Could you please restore it so that I can finish it. The history of this - The page was uploaded and deemed a G11 violation by Seraphimblade. He explained things to me. He restored it to my sandbox for revision. It was IMMEDIATELY deleted by RHaworth for G11 violation before I had even realised it had been restored let alone made the necessary changes. He restored it so that I may make the changes. And now before I have finished making the changes you have deleted it for G11 violation. As far as I know it is in my sandbox ! for revision --not published. Why are you deleting it? How am I supposed to make any changes if it keeps getting deleted before I have a chance to? ? Clearly there is something going wrong here and that I I am doing something wrong? Please explain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisiswhatwefind (talkcontribs) 13:49, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

replied on user talk page, restored pro tem Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:20, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jimfbleak Thank you for the extensive background to Wikipedia policy. I am not being compensated for writing this article. As I explained to Seraphimblade the addition of a link to sales was not made by me although obviously on my user page. I shared the page at that time with somebody in order for them to add some details that I did not have. And just before I posted the page they had added a link or something to a site where things could be bought. I 'uploaded' it without knowing of this addition. Anyhow I know that this is not allowed and it is very clearly my fault. As far as I know this content was removed by Seraphimblade when the article was returned to me to make further changes of a descriptive nature. Necessary changes were explained and I was intending to make those changes and add corroboratory links etc. However since then the article has been repeatedly deleted without me having time to do so. is there a time limit to how long I have to make these changes? As far as I was aware nothing was seen by regular users of Wikipedia before I posted it again for publication which I have not done. And would not do until the issues very well explained by Seraphimblabe were addressed properly. he even offered to review the changes before it was published again and I was intending to take up his offer but I have been unable to complete any changes as the article is repeatedly removed for a continuing violation that I was unaware of. I was of the understanding that the sandbox was somewhere that .. to quote.. the sandbox " serves as a testing spot and page development space for the user and is not an encyclopaedia article." Is this not the case as you suggest? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisiswhatwefind (talkcontribs) 14:41, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the ping. I think this is more a question of a newer editor not quite understanding the Wikipedia writing style than someone who's trying to sell stuff. I talked with this editor for a while and believe they should be able to correct the issues and understand what's needed for that. Indeed bad luck though; maybe I ought to leave a note on the sandbox page. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:45, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jimfbleak, you deleted this page very recently [1]. I'm 99% sure that User:Maravha junior shaka is the same or very similar text, especially since Maravha shaka (talk · contribs) edited it before re-creating their autobiography. I see you also deleted Maravha shaka (same creator) back on 7 June 2015. [2]. FYI 220 of Borg 17:03, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The sandbox page info does not make it clear that anything written is not pre publication as I understood it to mean. I have not yet gotten to the stage of putting links and references etc as I was making changes to the already written piece and quite frankly at this stage I do not know how to do such. When the basic text was down I was going to address this. As you appreciate I have not been able to. I can only work on the text when I have time to do so. Do you think it will be deleted again quickly? How can I mitigate against this? As a frequent user of Wikipedia i am glad that there are people such as yourself who police its content. That is why I trust using it. I am a first time contributor who has certainly gotten into a web of misunderstanding here I feel. I saw an article online which was basically about ..why not be a contributor to the Wkipaedia database. It sounded easy and so I thought I'd give it a go. This is a band that was prominent on the 80's funk/soul scene in London and the wider UK and I could not see them on Wikipedia. With my increased knowledge of how to contribute to Wikipedia maybe they will have. i have started and so i may as well finish. Whether it is accepted or not is for yourselves to quite rightly judge. Being a band from before the internet there is not as much as would be the[reply]

Thisiswhatwefind, as I said, I think you were just unlucky. Nothing you can do to prevent deletion, but it's easy enough for me to restore if it happens again, I'll watch the page Jimfbleak - talk to me? 17:39, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tana Oy's deleted page

Hi, I tried to add an article about Tana Oy previously this week, but the page was deleted. Apparently there has been a misunderstanding on my behalf about the conditions and the whole ideology. It is true that I tried to add an article about my company, but I understood that it was only discouraged, not prohibited. I tried to create the content so that it wouldn't sound as advertising or such, but apparently I failed. As an owner of the content in www.tana.fi I didn't think it would matter if I use the content on some parts from there. However it is clear to me now why this was wrong. If I were an outsider, I would of course think of it as wrong. I apologize for my mistakes. It has been a bit hard for me to understand the guidelines and the user interface, and I really didn't mean to do anything wrong on purpose.

I have altered and rewritten parts of the text now and I was wondering if there was any way I could publish the article about Tana Oy? Most of the information on which the article is based on has been gathered by interviewing one employee and based on my own work as a communications assistant in Tana Oy. If this isn't possible, then it isn't and I let it go. I should probably also let you know that this is my last day as an employee of Tana Oy, so I would have wanted to add people's knowledge on Tana Oy as my last task.

Not Breathing - plausible redirect?

I have no objection to the deletion itself; what I want to ask about is the hatnote I had placed and the corresponding talk-page discussion. For reference, the hatnote read, to the best of my memory: "Not breathing" redirects here. For the medical condition, see Apnea.

As for the talk page, what I had said was that in the event of a deletion like this one, the title should be repurposed as a redirect to Apnea, as that is the closest literal meaning. Do you consider such a redirect plausible, especially for the capitalization variant "Not breathing"?

(Respiratory arrest is a related topic, but I think apnea is closer to the common meaning of "not breathing." My understanding is that respiratory arrest is respiratory activity that is insufficient to sustain life but not necessarily absent, just as cardiac arrest does not solely mean asystole.)

I am aware that you have not salted anything, and so I could have created the redirects myself. However, I felt that it would be common courtesy to discuss with you first. --SoledadKabocha (talk) 06:54, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

SoledadKabocha, I'm not fanatical about the purity of redirects, and although I can see why you ask the question, I wouldn't object to the lc version. The capitalised variant is perhaps less likely, but personally I wouldn't delete it if I stumbled across it in normal reviewing. Other editors may take a different view, but just try it and see what happens, have a good 2016, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:44, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. Perhaps I should have been a bit clearer why I wasn't bold: "I felt that it would be common courtesy to discuss with you first, because the issue involves a page deletion." However, that should be fairly obvious by now. Anyway, creating the redirect ASAP. --SoledadKabocha (talk) 18:08, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please be aware that despite the fact that Loowi has been deleted, a new article with the same content appeared under that name. I have had some discussion with EduToys, (see my talk page) and apparently it is an advertising account associated with the Loowi toy.--WannaBeEditor (talk) 10:41, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

123.136.112.198, you will have to help me with this. I can't see obvious edit warring for the ISP in his contributions, and he has only been warned for one addition of inappropriate content. What article do you claim he is edit warring on? Why haven't you posted a warning about edit warring? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:34, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Akhun Kheil of Kounsh valley, Mansehra dsitrict

Hin Jim: I have created the page on "Akhun Kheil of Kounsh valley, Mansehra dsitrict" and you have deleted it with the assumption that it is not significant. I think it is an important and interesting topic for the wikipedia readers. There are about 2 - 3 thousand people who are descendent of one person and they live like a colony of same tribe. I think it is also important historically to know this information. If I can add this information in the article and make it acceptable for wikipedia, please let me know. Thanks.
