In 2016, three doctors from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation concluded that Franklin D. Roosevelt did contract poliomyelitis. The idea that he may have had Guillain-Barre Syndrome was refuted by them, "...we find no reason to question the diagnostic accuracy of poliomyelitis and wish to put this debate to rest."
