Anuja Trehan Kapur (born 24 October 1975) is an Indian-based Criminal Psychologist who is also known as a counselor, social activist and Advocate.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Born in Delhi, India, Kapur was raised in a pure Punjabi family. She went to Queen Mary School in Tis Hazari, Delhi and later earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology and Master's degree in Criminology from Delhi University.

Kapur later completed another course in Forensic Science from Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi. She holds an International Diploma in Victimology from The Tokiawa International Victimology Institute, Japan. She also completed her LLB from CCS University.[4]

Professional career

After graduating from Delhi University, Kapur joined Delhi Public School as a student counselor. Later on, she joined CURES NGO as Executive Director.[5]

Anuja started sharing theories on various high-profile Criminal cases such as Indrani Mukerjea case, Somnath Bharti case, Asaram Bapu Case, Sunanda Pushkar, 2008 Noida double murder case which is known as Aarushi Murder case, 2012 Delhi gang rape which is known as Nirbhaya Rape Case, and 2014 Badaun gang rape allegations[6]

As a psychologist she shares inputs in various Psychological and Mental issues related to Abnormal Behavior, Child Psychology, Divorce, Bullying, Re- marriage and its effects on children, Social media and networking boon or curse, as well as Relation breakup issue.[7][8][9][10][11][12]

Anuja founded a non-governmental organization named NIRBHIYA EK SHAKTI which is the Center for Victim Assistance. [13][14] She spent one day in Sheroes Cafe for the purpose of giving counseling to the victims: DOLLY,RUPA,RITU,GEETA,NEETU in Agra.[14][15] Under the OPERATION NIRBHEEK she did counseling for various Government students, studying in Municipal and Private Schools on GOOD TOUCH AND BAD TOUCH.[16][17] She also raises her voice against acid attack victims.[18]

Anuja attended The 15th International Symposium which is organized by WSV, Victim Support Australia, Angelhands and the Australian Institute of Criminology.[19]

Personal life

Anuja resides in Delhi and she is married to her husband, Amit Kapur ; a businessman from Delhi. They have two sons.[5]
