Andreas Umland (born 1967 in Jena, Germany) is a German political scientist, historian and Russian interpreter, specializing in contemporary Russian and Ukrainian history. He is a Member of the Institute for Central and East European Studies (ZIMOS) at the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt in Upper Bavaria, a small, yet active research center.[1] He lives in Kyiv, while teaching at the National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy". He has been general editor of the book series "Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society" in Ibidem Edition[4] since 2004, co-compiler of the biweekly "Russian Nationalism Bulletin"[5] since 2007, and co-editor of the web journal "Forum noveishei vostochnoevropeiskoi istorii i kul'tury" (eng.: Forum of contemporary East European history and culture) since 2008.[6]
