Brain Bar Budapest is an annual global festival on the future organized in Budapest, Hungary since 2015.

History

2015

The inaugural event was held at Budapest’s Akvarium Klub, from June 4 to 6 with the goal to make communities future-proof and to create new, dynamic platforms to exchange visions in Europe.[1]

The first festival attracted more than 3000 visitors from 20 countries and a further 3500 followed it online.[2]

Main themes followed the trends and dilemmas that define the future of cities, businesses, education, health and innovation.[3]

Brain Bar Budapest 2015 featured 81 guest speakers from 20 different countries[4] - including economist historian Niall Ferguson,urbanist and author Richard Florida, educational researcher Sugata Mitra and psycholigist Philip Zimbardo.


13 side events all over the city centre complemented the program.

2016

In 2016, the second Brain Bar Budapest took place on 2-4 June at Akvarium Klub. Festival tickets were sold out by the end of May and over 5000 people visited the 25 venues.[5] 43 countries’ residents attended the core program and the 20+ side events.

During the festival, four primary themes were presented on stage: artificial intelligence and its potential impact on humans, the impact of technology on the future of business and education, the future of cities and the future of Europe.[6]
