Shameless Plug
I removed this from the wiki because to me it sounded like a shameless plug by somebody at this festival(Voodoo Experience)... "Jakob Dylan and the Three Legs have just been added to the already stellar Voodoo Experience lineup which will take place over Halloween weekend 2010 in New Orleans, LA." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.109.1.11 (talk) 03:28, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Old untitled comments
http://www.tv.com/jakob-dylan/person/430101/summary.html is full of misinformation. Many of the so-called trivia items are false. For example, Jakob Dylan was born in New York, not Minnesota; he is the only songwriter for The Wallflowers, not "the main one"; he has recorded five albums with The Wallflowers, not four; etc. This web page can be edited by anyone and false information can be deliberately planted to "support" so-called "facts" for other Wikipedia pages. Therefore, this link is highly unreliable in serving as a reference for the statement that Heather Dylan is Jakob Dylan's adopted daughter. Separatehorns (talk) 21:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Separatehorns

Protection of Document
I requested protection of this document due to the dispute over claims made by a particular editor that Jakob Dylan adopted a daughter in 1997 and that Jakob Dylan and his family live in Pennsylvania. No validated or reliable references have been provided to prove any of the above to be true. Each time this information is removed from the bio, it is immediately reverted by the editor or his/her friends. Currently a bio about "Heather Dylan", the supposed adopted daughter, is on review for deletion on suspicion of hoax. Once the outcome of that process is finished, I hope we can reach consensus and request protection be cancelled. Daffidd (talk) 12:49, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
I think it's dumb for someone to make up lies about Jakob Dylan. He's not famous enough for anyone but his fans to care. We don't know very much about his kids but he has always said how many kids he has, their gender and the range of their ages (ie: from 8 to 11). He barely says anything about his kids. He wants them to have privacy so he doesn't tell their names, but he doesn't lie about the fact that they exist. That's just stupid. That story is so fake. In a recent interview (May 2008) he said that he has four boys from the ages 6 months to 13 years. A few photos exist with him, his wife and his kids and I've seen them and there are no girls besides his wife in the photos. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dylan369 (talk • contribs) 02:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Update: The offending article about Heather Dylan has been deleted and protected against recreation. As well, the author and several of his/her friends have been blocked indefinitely. I've asked for Jakob Dylan's bio to be un-protected. This is pending. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daffidd (talk • contribs) 22:39, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
With the release of Seeing Things on June 10, 2008, the Jakob Dylan page needs to have the tense updated regarding this album. I'd update the page but clearly it's protected.--Mseanbrown (talk) 22:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 5 external links on Jakob Dylan. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

This article is extremely biased. The writer obviously is not very familiar with the person, or he/she isn't very fond of Jakob. Look at this paragraph:
"After Bringing Down the Horse, The Wallflowers have had little commercial success. Although it could be explained by a variety of reasons, many feel it is symbolized by his performance of "One Headlight" at the 1998 Grammys, where he was largely upstaged by Bruce Springsteen. While this is not pointed at as the direct reason for the groups fall from glory, it can be seen as Jakob Dylan's inability to distance himself from his father (via the elder Dylan's contemporaries) and the unfair inability of the media and listeners to accept him as a separate entity. To his credit, Jakob Dylan never covers his fathers songs and avoids father/son comparisons whenever possible." Perhaps, the writer shouldn't rely on the idiotic comments left on YouTube referring to a video with Bruce Springsteen and The Wallflowers. This performance is barely memorable to actual fans of the band and it certainly was not the cause for having "little commercial success." Perhaps it was because their follow-up album (which is never mentioned in the article), Breach, was the first album to be entirely uploaded on Napster months prior to its release, allowing every thief to illegally download it. It is not known how many copies of this album could have been sold. Also, the comment "avoids father/son comparisons whenever possible" comes off as quite a bit harsh. While he has shied away from divulging much information about his father, he has admitted that it is not because of any rift or bad relationship. Also, I tried editing this page once (to add such information as which albums he has released), but it was removed. It's odd that three of The Wallflowers five albums are not even mentioned. In case anyone wants the real information, the third album, Breach, was released in 2000. Red Letter Days came out in 2002. Rebel, Sweetheart was released in 2005. Also, Jakob was the opener for T Bone Burnett's "True/False Identity Tour" in the spring of 2006. |
