Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council[1] is a local authority that was established on 1 April 2015. It replaced Lisburn City Council and Castlereagh Borough Council. The first elections to the authority were on 22 May 2014 and it acted as a shadow authority, prior to the creation of the Lisburn and Castlereagh district on 1 April 2015.

Changes

Councillors John and Jenny Palmer defected from the DUP to the UUP on 2 September 2015.[3]

Johnny McCarthy left NI21 to sit as an Independent.[4] In February 2016 he changed his party affiliation and joined the SDLP.[5]

In January 2017 Councillors Vasundhara Kamble and Geraldine Rice left the Alliance Party to sit as Independents. [6]
