The Mexican Indian Wars[1] refer to a series of conflicts fought between Spanish, and later Mexican, forces against Amerindians in what is now called Mexico. The period begins with Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire in 1519[2] and continued until the end of the Caste War of Yucatán in 1933.[3]
