James Michael Doyle (born 1 August 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays for as a defender for Greenock Morton. After beginning his senior career with Kilmarnock and spending time on loan to Stirling Albion, Doyle made over 100 appearances for Alloa Athletic before joining St Johnstone for a short period in 2016.

Career

Doyle began his career as a youth player for Celtic[1] before joining Kilmarnock at under-19 level.[2][3]

Stirling

In January 2011 Doyle signed for Scottish First Division side Stirling Albion on loan, making his debut on 2 January 2011 in their 4–2 defeat against Falkirk.[4] In all Doyle made 19 appearances for Stirling.

Alloa

On 12 July 2011 Doyle signed for Scottish Third Division side Alloa Athletic[5] after impressing on trial during pre season.[6] Making his first team debut on 23 July 2011 against Peterhead in the Challenge Cup,[7] with his league debut coming on 6 August against Stranraer in their 3–2 win at Stair Park.[8] He scored his first competitive goal on 17 September 2011 against Queen's Park.[9]

St. Johnstone

Michael Doyle signed for St Johnstone on 4 February 2016 to cover for club captain, Dave Mackay, who had been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hip injury.[10]

Morton

In May 2016, Doyle left Saints after 2 appearances to join Championship side Morton.[11]
