Definite Article, The nicknames, should not go together with a determining article, because it is not such, the nickname is Blancos ''Whites'', Merengues ''Meringues'', Vikingos ''Vikings'', not THE/LOS whites / blancos etc. in most articles about football clubs the nickname is not accompanied by a definite article, this is the right way. In fact in the page in Spanish of the article appears without the "los/the".--[[Special:Contributions/87.223.84.198|87.223.84.198]] ([[User talk:87.223.84.198|talk]]) 12:39, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Current status: Good article

EU Flags

The EU flags are important in spanish football. As I've explained only three non-eu citizens can be on a pitch at anytime. Teams get around this by claiming passports from EU countries if they -the players- have ancestry from an Eu country or by nationalising a player after five years which is why some Brazilians have spanish flags e.g Roberto Carlos.

Real Madrid Worldwide fan group

Is it possible to add Real Madrid Worldwide fan site : http://www.realmadrid-club.net to the article page external links ?

Jerzy Dudek shirt number

it says in an interview here: [1] on the real madrid official site that Jerzy Dudek is shirt number 25 so i changed it on the current squad list and his personal page. so by process of elimination, Jordi Codina is number 13. Smithcool

Harvard University study about Real Madrid's followers

"A study at Harvard University concluded that Real Madrid "is one of the 20 most important brand names and the only one in which its executives, the players, are well-known. We have some spectacular figures in regard to worldwide support of the club. There are an estimated 287 million people worldwide who follow Real Madrid."

This part of the text has as reference an article that refers to the study but, besides some other references to the study, I could not find any traces of that study.

It must be mentioned that Real Madrid is a non-profit sports association. Armanshah (talk) 06:05, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Armanshah: Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Murph9000 (talk) 06:35, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Murph9000: It is well known that Real Madrid is a association in which there is no profit sharing between the partners and wich hasn't got a majority partner, is owned by a little more of 90,000 members of the club. There is only a small legal doubt, it is that the club is not an Sociedad Anónima Deportiva (SAD) since it was not converted in 1990 as well as FC Barcelona, Athletic Club Bilbao, Osasuna etc., all clubs with the same characteristics, members with voting option and without economic benefits. So the club can be considered as a non-profit sport association, because in practice it is, even if they don't pay a corporation tax like a S.A.D.. --95.22.121.52 (talk) 05:59, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the Fitness coach Bernardo Requena to Javier Mallo and Antonio Pintus because these two gentleman are the current fitness coaches of Real Madrid C.F. as of June 2017. [1] Ibrahimhoque01 (talk) 16:51, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

17/18 Kit

Is it ok to have the kit updated based on the leaks, before the official release? Or have I missed seeing the release? Anakimi (talk) 21:59, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest to wait for an official release. Kante4 (talk) 04:19, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
New kit was officially released today anyway. Anakimi (talk) 00:02, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Extensiveness

I'm adding content to make the history section (especially recent history) more comprehensive, comparable to that of other clubs. Editors please feel welcome to add content or provide suggestions. Anakimi (talk) 02:53, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Kante4: Could you please check if my edits are excessive? I get the sense that they might be... Anakimi (talk) 07:30, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I already told you below in the "Clear case of WP:Recentism" section, 2013-2017 need a only one section, not 4 paragraphs for two years and trhee for other two and one of them dedicate to bad season without winning any important title. Look the articule about this. --95.22.121.52 (talk) 08:55, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Clear case of WP:Recentism

This article is a clare case of WP:Recentism.

The section of history is quite deficient, not to say directly incorrect. You can not give more space in the text to a stage of 2 years of a single coach than to the entire decade of the 70's, or to the whole decade of the 80's with the 5 consecutive leagues, or to the decade of the 90's with the return in 98 to the European triumphs etc. Apart from that it would be necessary to make a section much more extensive of the 50's and 60's, the 40's after the Civil War is interesant when the club was near to descend. The seasons from 1955 to 1960 have to be named, like 1962, 1964 and of course the season of 1966.

Space must be proportional, it should be summarize more the present and at least name and explain happenings of the twentieth century.

If the article is protected I can create an account and start to compose and improve the sections.--95.22.121.52 (talk) 03:35, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally, I have just further expanded the most recent section. But I would suggest that prior history be expanded further, rather than recent history be deleted to make things proportionate. Anakimi (talk) 04:51, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
But there might definitely be room for summarizing the contents of the last couple of years. Don't mean to prevent anyone from doing that. Anakimi (talk) 04:54, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The last 7 years have been important for the history of the club, surely more remarkable than for example the decade of the 70's for the international success, but in any case is a space of 10 years, it seems to me well that the content of the present is well exposed but in many occasions it seems excessive, all that information are already in the articles of the championships, in the hsitory section should be named triumphs and make a brief summary of the seasons, is a section of the entire history of the club and can not dedicate a paragraph to a single season.
The paragraphs or sections must be about decades and in exceptional about about 5 years periods as it could be the case of the time of 2013-17. I think it is wrong to dedicate two sections to the 2013-2017 stage, because the squad is very similar, and it is not possible to leave a section to a period of 2 years, is much better a 2013-2017 section than 2013-2015 and 2015-2017. Apart from a little restructuring of the recent seasons, I think we have to expand the sections of the twentieth century. I'm trying to get images for the sections but I'm a bit confused with the wikicommons licenses.--95.22.121.52 (talk) 05:21, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that the Spanish page for Real Madrid has a lot of content for history. Maybe that could be useful if equivalent English references were found. Anakimi (talk) 06:04, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I did a bit of a re-org of the more recent sections (combined the Ancelotti-Zidane 'eras'), because although they seem distinct, the core group of players have been essentially the same, and it's been just 4 years. There still seems to be some excessive detail in the contents of the section that probably could be pruned out (for e.g. how many goals C. Ronaldo scored in certain games; just seems like trivia to me). It's a bit hard to get rid of a lot of the detail in the contents because there have been several notable achievements and records in the past few years and everything seems relevant but it is disproportionately larger than several of the previous decades and seems too bottom heavy. Anakimi (talk) 18:13, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

European Cup squads

Should I make the formations on the pitch for the teams that were fielded in the 7 European Cup triumphs? It might seem like their importance is downplayed otherwise. If people think it's unnecessary however, I won't do it. Anakimi (talk) 05:00, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname

The nicknames, shouldn't go together with a definite article, the nickname is Blancos Whites, Merengues Meringues, Vikingos Vikings, not THE/LOS whites/blancos etc. in most articles about football clubs the nickname is not accompanied by a definite article, this is the right way. In fact in the page in Spanish of the article appears without the "los/the".--87.223.84.198 (talk) 12:39, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
