Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology Unnao, also known as SRMS CET Unnao is a private-unaided engineering college in the Lucknow region situated at Village Ashakhera-Kushari, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, India.[1][2] Founded in the memory of the late Shri Ram Murti Ji, it is managed and run by SRMS Trust and offers undergraduate courses as B.Tech in engineering.[3][4]

History

This private engineering college of Uttar Pradesh (UP) was established in the year 2011 by SRMS Trust Lucknow, as a part of its vision to impart value based professional education. SRMS Trust is a registered public charitable Trust established in the year 1990, to commemorate & cherish memory of veteran freedom fighter & true Gandhian Late Shri Ram Murti Ji. SRMS Trust is providing education and research in the field of Engineering, Management, Pharmacy and Medicine. Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology Unnao was established to provide quality based engineering education in Lucknow region. In the foundation year, the college got approval from AICTE for running B.Tech courses.[5] The first class of B. Tech started in 2011. The school consists of state-of-the art infrastructure for labs, library, classrooms, seminar halls, auditorium, and sports grounds, to provide a holistic environment for overall development of personality and academics.

Approval and Affiliation

SRMSCET and its all courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University(AKTU), Lucknow.[6][7][8] Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University was formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow. The college has institution code 745 with AKTU[9]

Facilities

The college has state-of-the-art infrastructure for teaching engineering students, and research support for faculty members. The library is equipped with sufficient volumes of latest titles of books. Online national and international journals, along with multimedia resources, are also available in the library. The computing facilities were developed with a campus-wide network, high speed Internet access, and 24 x 7 Wi-Fi.

Separate hostels are available for boys and girls in the campus with well furnished rooms. Each hostel has its own mess and dining hall, common room with TV, and sports facilities. Each hostel has adequate power backup & 24 hours security. The hostels have full-time wardens and sufficient support staff. A 24 hour medical facility is also available at the well equipped 150 bed on-campus SRMS Hospital. Each department of the college has well equipped laboratories[16] with the latest equipment to meet the curriculum requirements of the affiliating university. An auditorium, canteen, stationary shops, and ATM are also available.[17]

Admission Process

Admissions in all engineering courses are according to the guidelines of state government of Uttar Pradesh, AICTE and Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University.

Every year the affiliating university conducts state entrance examinations of Uttar Pradesh (SEE-UPTU) for admissions in all professional courses. However, admissions for management quota seats are done by the college as per the norms.

Applications process starts in February/March each year. Interested candidates can contact the college for admissions or may visit the official website of Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination[18]

Eligibility for Admissions

Admissions are offered in the first and second year of B. Tech Courses, according to the norms and guidelines of Affiliating University and State Government.

For admissions in the first year of B.Tech, the candidate must have passed 10+2 level examination from recognized board with aggregate 60% marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Further, candidate must have passed each subject of 10+2 examination without grace. Admissions for the management seats are granted through SRMS EET[19] which is a common entrance test of SRMS Engineering Institutions of Bareilly and Lucknnow.
Candidates with a three year diploma from a recognized technical education board, with 60% marks, are eligible for admissions in the second year of the courses under lateral entry scheme.[1]

Convocation

Each year the college recognizes merits of the students and honours them during convocation[20] of SRMS Institutions on 8th February.[21]

Scholarship

SRMS Trust offers merit scholarships of Rupees three crore[22] each year to all meritorious students of this college, along with other institutions of SRMS Trust which are situated at Bareilly and Unnao. The following criteria are followed for the scholarship in different categories:

Students Securing 75% or more marks but below 80% in the University Examination Rs. 20,000 /-
