2018

On September 7, 2018, Activision Blizzard announced that OverActive Media Group had purchased an expansion team based in Toronto for Overwatch League's second season. It was later reported esports team Splyce would operate the team.[1]

On October 24, 2018, the Toronto Defiant branding was officially unveiled during a livestream event in Toronto.[4] The logo depicts a T inscribed in a D. The team name is meant to represent Toronto's "strength, character, and resiliency." The red and gray colours represent power.[3]
