Toronto Defiant is a Canadian professional Overwatch esports team based in Toronto, Ontario. The team is a member of the Overwatch League competing in the Atlantic Division.[3] The team is owned by OverActive Media Group and Splyce.[1] The team is among seven others to join in the 2019 season.
Franchise history
2018
On September 7, 2018, Activision Blizzard announced that OverActive Media Group had purchased an expansion team based in Toronto for Overwatch League's second season. It was later reported esports team Splyce would operate the team.[1]
On October 24, 2018, the Toronto Defiant branding was officially unveiled during a livestream event in Toronto.[4] The logo depicts a T inscribed in a D. The team name is meant to represent Toronto's "strength, character, and resiliency." The red and gray colours represent power.[3]
