I grew up in Newton, knew its folkways very well, as well as its villages, schools and history, have never heard of Auburndale referred to anything but Auburndale. As I attended a school that bordered on Auburndale for two years, thus knew the areas well, I must say I never heard it called anything but Auburndale, even by local kids ("townies", as they were called).
