Louis van Gaal

It is fact that both Louis van Gaal and Tommy Docherty have both won the FA Cup with Manchester United and got the sack.Mr Hall of England (talk) 08:52, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You've been here long enough to understand that content, especially on WP:BLPs, ought to be verified by reliable sources. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:53, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick

Added champions league with inter in 2009/10 and Seria A with AC Milan in 1995/96. I have also added sources Johnjohnson7234 (talk) 09:30, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that Transfermarkt is not a reliable source. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:57, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well it shows that he won these competitions. Also he made enough appearances in both competition to qualify for these honours Johnjohnson7234 (talk) 15:55, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A) That doesn't matter when the source isn't reliable and b) how many appearances are needed to win these competitions? Mattythewhite (talk) 16:22, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It’s minimum of one Johnjohnson7234 (talk) 23:09, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
According to? Mattythewhite (talk) 23:14, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you have a look before this escalates, please (and maybe the person who reverted me is another sock of PenguinsElite? Not accusing, just saying, as i now also not(ic)e Lampardsgotnochance was another sock of them that you reverted)? Where do you think article needs more adjustments? Say the word and i'll duly accommodate :)

Previous user said the other user (or themselves!) contributed to the article, when all they ever did was leave unsourced content in the coaching storyline (the subject's work with the Spanish youths). By the way, i'll spend the next 20 minutes or so sourcing honours and the box, please don't edit there in that timeframe; before i go, i read a guideline back in the day that said that assistant managerial spells belonged in the box as long as they were deemed important/relevant to a person's career, are three years in Real Madrid not?

Attentively, thanks very much in advance --81.193.141.118 (talk) 16:17, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't pay much heed to a long-term sockmaster. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:24, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, i see what you mean (by the way, i'm sure you know why i am editing with an IP now, trying to escape from a long-term stalking "relationship", so far it's much better). But what about the article's current display? Any major concern from your part? By the way, box and honours duly sourced, hopefully to WP's satisfaction. --81.193.141.118 (talk) 16:38, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing shouts out to me. I would note that the Real Madrid source used for that club's honours don't specify the years those competitions were won, and personally I would use something more independent than a club website for honours. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:45, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Best i could come up with on such short notice. I have added another one longsince, at least the three CL are clearly speficied this time. --81.193.141.118 (talk) 17:00, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Great "respect"

José Luis Martí, and you are sure nothing can be done about this person (User:Sir gidabout)? One IP after the other (and the corresponding reversions) even though I address them politely (well, not so much in last message, I lost it), and removal of the preferred third-party sources to be replaced with "less-welcome" official club's one.

Attentively (losing my mind over this, not worth it but what can I do?) --193.137.135.2 (talk) 14:29, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LOL (and I told one of the IPs that, in order to respect them, I re-added the third-party source but kept theirs), new IP in the article and the third-party ref I added summarily removed!! Edit war afoot. --193.137.135.2 (talk) 14:39, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for three days. Unfortunately, I think that's probably the best approach to countering this individual's edits, given the rate at which they hop IPs. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:23, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. By the way, please don't think i'm also IP hopping, the first one in this original message is from my place of work, the second from my home. Both are static, until further notice that is.

On a related note, i'd better stop engaging in conversation (especially if heated) with this individual, that could do nothing else but aggravate them. --81.193.141.118 (talk) 15:48, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Not that i think it will change anything (person will most likely not read it due to the vast array of IPs, or if they do they will not care one bit), but to compensate my verbal faux pas in one of the messages i went to the last address found in Mr. Martí's edit history and apologised for calling the person a "punk" (not aggressive at all, but not very courteous as well i admit it). This ceases all communication with the other part, i promise.

Attentively --81.193.141.118 (talk) 17:21, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

On a related note (same article), sorry i made you cleanup the display of titles again, but i operated a blanker revert because of said nuisance, then proceeded to add honours where the citations existed. If you notice, all the other subsequent edits of mine were me engaging in cleanup, obviously did not clean it all up (apologies again)... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.193.141.118 (talk) 18:57, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rob Kozluk

How's that? Now with the source added. Apologies, I'm new to Wikipedia and still working it all out. Someone else was editing the page at the same time as me, I'm assuming it's kept both our changes? Also, I would like to add a footnote to say the two 2012/13 'Other' appearances were in the Derbyshire Senior Cup, but that's a bit beyond me at this stage.. Nonleagueapps (talk) 23:43, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, thanks for adding those sources. You did undo their edits in the process but they have since reinstated them. The way I add footnotes to career stats tables is putting {{efn|Appearances in [competition]}} following the appearance figure. I have added one to the table at Rob Kozluk. Onbec on Anthony Jackson-Hamel

Hi, it's me Onbec. First of all, I'd to say that it is not possible to source a category. Some has no explanations. For instance, no where in the article it is written that his father is Dominican, but he is still classified under "Canadian people of Dominican descent". But if you need justifications I'm willing to provide you some. First of all, Hamel is a French last name and here[1] it is said that she's as well Canadian. In this article written in French, it is said that his grand-father was the organist of the Nordiques team[2] which was Jean-Yves Hamel. On his death certificate it is mentioned that he was the father of Christine Hamel,[3] the mother of Anthony Jackson-Hamel. His ancestors were clearly French Quebecers and of French descent. Onbec (talk) 00:24, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It may not be possible to source a category, but you can source the related text in the article. Mattythewhite (talk) 11:58, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

References

I took the liberty of operating a major cleanup to his Newcastle section, chap there wrote about EVERY goal so i think this is an open-and-shut-case of WP:OVERDETAIL! Should you see it fit, please re-revert and sorry for any inconvenience.

Don't know if this user has the habit of doing this as all i have ever seen them doing in all these years is taking care of templates and akin. Attentively --81.193.141.118 (talk) 20:47, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sergio Aguero Confusion

Hello, I just wanted to ask why you keep undoing my edit for Sergio Aguero. You have accused me of being partial, hence I provided several links for proof and my sources clearly back up the knowledge that I am adding. I feel that by witholding this information you are acting partial yourself. So I request you to pls accept my next update. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.173.207.48 (talk) 18:09, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He keeps doing it to me too, even when I provide a substantial reference. Can you please stop ( Paul Gascoigne) Spamalama (talk) 17:20, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Content doesn't automatically become worthy of note just because it is referenced. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:22, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you have an issue, please address it to us before removing it. We could then reach a mutual agreement. Spamalama (talk) 17:33, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The article you have referenced, further proves that edits such as ours are permitted, this however does not strictly outline that you have to delete them Spamalama (talk) 17:38, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to disagree, but the dimensions of an image are perfectly legitimate reasons for removal - the original uploader of that image should have re-sized to an appropriate size in the first place before uploading. When this page is viewed on any platform (mobile, desktop) has a considerable gap between the the Career Statistics heading and the table itself and looks poor/unprofessional and not in-line with other player page layouts. If you have an issue with the image, then you should take this up with the original uploader and ask him to re-size it.

Unless you are happy with people uploading oversized images, then this would set a good example by removing it. Please do not turn this into a bigger issue than it needs to be, I have made legitimate points and unless another reason is provided which justifies the image in its current size being included, then I will re-edit and remove it shortly. If you still intend to maintain that it isn't a valid reason for removal (which it would be on any other website which values presentation), please point me in the direction of where on WP:FOOTY it has specific rules/consensus on image sizes where it overrides common sense.

Sorry for the lengthy message, but if this is really an issue you want to escalate, I'm prepared to do so. Just like you, I put in lots of hours formatting, editing, writing, improving pages and this seems a a very simple, common sense matter. Hope you agree. FilthyDon (talk) 21:19, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've consulted with the original uploader and he has kindly cropped the image. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:29, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Problem solved. Appreciated. FilthyDon (talk) 23:55, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If the BBC has a standalone article on it, it's more than tabloid rumour and worth including. GiantSnowman 11:52, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The term "linked" is vague, undescriptive and doesn't belong in a biography. If there's more substantive detail in the report then that should be used. Players are "linked" with moves all the time. Mattythewhite (talk) 11:55, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bolton, Lancashire

Mattthewhite, Bolton is in Lancashire. Greater Manchester is merely an administrative area within Lancashire, similar to Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool which are both unitarian authorities within the county of Lancashire. Even in Wikipedia's own history of Bolton Wanderers there's a whole section about how Bolton was one of six Lancashire clubs to be founder members of the football league. Spainie-06 (talk) 13:40, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Per our own article on Greater Manchester: "Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county". Bolton lies within the boundaries of the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester. That's as far as this need go. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:43, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please tell me
As per Wikipedia's own article "Bolton was one of the 12 founder members of the football league. At the time LANCASHIRE was one of the strongest football regions in the country, with 6 of the 12 founder clubs coming from within the boundaries of the historic county of LANCASHIRE".
Could you please tell me who those 6 Lancashire teams were?
Could you also tell me were Lancashire County cricket play they're games?
I'm very passionate about "real" Lancashire and feel that Wikipedia is misrepresenting both Bolton and Lancashire with its misinformation. Spainie-06 (talk) 20:26, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What you define as "real" Lancashire hasn't existed since 1974. You are the one trying to insert misinformation into the encyclopaedia. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:34, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dong-Won Ji

Hi Mattythewhite, sorry for not following the orders of Wikipedia. I'm kinda lazy to make a wikipedia account, so I'll give you the informations why you should change Dong-Won Ji's team should be changed to Mainz 05 from Augsburg.

https://www.transfermarkt.com/dong-won-ji/profil/spieler/164265->Confirmed in July 1st that he moved to Mainz from Augsburg.

https://www.mainz05.de/news/die-9-die-10-oder-eine-95/->It's a news from Mainz 05, about Dong-Won Ji.

P.S If there's any more information that I should add or proove to you just tell me. Oh, and his loan to Darmstadt ended in the early 2018, so don't forget to change it.

Hi, please refer to WP:BURDEN, which states that the "burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material". In other words, I'm not your lapdog. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:12, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

July 2019

As I have politely asked in the past, please do not interact with me. Your reverted edits are not improving wikipedia. You are a vandal who publishes photos taken by other people and credit as your own work. That is the definition of a vandal, a cheat, a fraud. I could go on but I think you get the idea. Rupert1904 (talk) 01:03, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that you to retract the accusation made above. Mattythewhite (talk) 01:18, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Violation of the Wikipedia friendly users policy.

This is notable as it was a topic in the news, Please don’t attack other users and refrain from removing edits without authorisation even if you believe they are unneeded. Spamalama (talk) 17:19, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you please substantiate your accusation that I "attack other users"? Mattythewhite (talk) 17:21, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be a constant theme with your page. You remove edits without substantial reason and constantly troll pages. You had a recent issue with me not formatting references, and if that is an issue, you could correct it for me without removing my edits. Spamalama (talk) 17:30, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be a constant them with you not evidencing your accusations. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:32, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I find your attitude to Wikipedia very unproductive. As apparent in your recent edits, many of your edits contain no reference, or you remove others edits. Many users work hard researching these and it is very upsetting to have them removed by an unproductive Wikipedia user who provides no help to what the problem is. It is obvious to see that you have a spiteful attitude when it comes to your opinion, however your opinion is not always fact. Please take this in mind when using Wikipedia in the future. Spamalama (talk) 17:36, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you User:Spamalama. Matty often uses bullying techniques and scare tactics to attack other users. I am a victim of this as well. I am yet to see edits of his that are productive nor does he help foster a community where people would want to contribute to edits. Rupert1904 (talk) 23:00, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to refer to you to the below. If you genuinely feel I've acted out of line, you should something about it like report me. Or are you trying to make some sort of point by piling in on a discussion that agrees with your agenda? Ball's in your court. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:05, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be fascinated to know where I have made edits that contain "no reference". Anyway, if you are unhappy with my conduct, the steps listed at WP:ADMINABUSE may be of help. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:41, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
