Translation help request
Greetings,
I see that your name is currently listed on Wikipedia:Translators available for "Korean-to-English" translations and I was wondering if you had time to translate two Korean-language sources (these two) into English, for an article on Lomilik. I did ask -revi last year about this but they were busy, and the other three editors (Iceager, Jocelyndurrey, Oil0518) listed there appear to be inactive. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:40, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Jo-Jo Eumerus, thank you for contacting me. I will definitely try to get to it, but unfortunately, due to other tasks and real life, I cannot guarantee speedy work on this. Please feel free to send me a reminder sometime later if necessary. Thank you. William2001(talk) 23:49, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll probably check in again next week if that isn't too early. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 08:34, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Jo-Jo Eumerus, I have college materials to finish until November 1st, so I'll probably start working on it after that. William2001(talk) 16:04, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks again. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:05, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Jo-Jo Eumerus, do you just want me to add the information directly to the article? It's probably easier that way unless you want the word-for-word translation of the document. William2001(talk) 13:30, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Better the word-to-word translation IMO as I am also considering writing an article on Litakpooki. Keep in mind that both documents are more than one page long, though. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:58, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

- @Oil0518:A PDF or file by email would be best. I don't think that posting it on-wiki would be allowed by the copyright policy. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 06:13, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Advert warning
Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. - Deb, thank you for your message. I am confused; can you please elaborate on this notice? What promotional edit did I make? Thank you. William2001(talk) 16:22, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry! Because you created the Talk page, which I also deleted, I mistook you for the article creator. The warning was meant for him. Deb (talk) 19:42, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Submission - Toni Morgan Haye article
Hi William2001! I am still somewhat a wiki newbie but I have a few articles I am working on for submission. I just submitted one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Toni_Morgan_Haye and wanted your opinion on how I did. I tried my best to follow all guidelines and used as much reliable information as I possibly could. Please let me know what you think. I'm working on targeting individuals in the film and music industry that are notable but dont yet have a Wikipage. I'm looking forward to your response! Thanks in advance. --FabianKnowles 17:57, 12 October 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabian0821 (talk • contribs)

Hello, William2001,
You know, putting two or three CSD tags on a page requesting deletion does not increase the chances that it will be seen and deleted. At different times during the day/night, a variety of admins go through the speedy deletion categories and having more than one tag doesn't increase its visibility in these deletion categories. Also, unless it is an attack page, there really isn't an urgency to delete any page immediately, particularly a draft article which readers won't come across. Liz Read! Talk! 20:04, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- Liz, I see... thank you for letting me know! Since I'm not an admin, I do not have much knowledge regarding how admins go through the pages with CSD tags. I thought that there was a centralized list in which admins go through and delete/skip. If this was the case, I thought that putting a second tag a while after the first one will bring the page to the top of the list. But, I guess that's not how it works... 2019 US Banknote Contest
US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |

Re-review of CSI NGS Portal
Hi William,
Thank you for reviewing and giving suggestions for our page. I have made the necessary corrections and I hope you will re-visit and approve it soon:

Thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omeran (talk • contribs) 10:46, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
- Omeran, thank you for your message. I see that you have tried to add inline citations, but inline citation means that you link an outside source to a specific claim in an article. Simply linking to another Wikipedia page is not a valid citation (although it is helpful). I think you should take a look at this guide. If you have any further questions, please let me know. William2001(talk) 21:53, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
- Also, if you are in any way related to the topic of this article, please read about this. Thank you. William2001(talk) 22:09, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
richard rudd page
hello William2001 I re-edited Richard Rudd page trying to follow your indications, even though there are things that I don't understand. First of all, when I go to the edit session, there is s flag/pop-up saying that I self declared a conflict of interest: what is that about? I never declared anything of the sort. I was asked by a friend to help in building this page, as a volunteer. I am a professional translator and editor (italian language), so my friend assumed I have some skills that can help. I kind of like Richard Rudd so I said yes, but I don't think I am in a conflict of interest here, 'cause I just like the guy, nothing more... Secondly. I toned down the article, highlighting what according to me can be of actual interest and notable. Personally, being a student and conosseur of the I-ching, I find his interpretation of the I-ching very valuable from many points of view. The guys is, before anything else, a great intellectual and knows a lot about many things in the realm of spiritual traditions. And there are a lot of people in the world requiring that kind of knowledge. Third thing: I put any external sources that I found, and I have no idea if they might be affiliated or not. The only possible affiliation I could figure is a mention of Rudd on Watkins website, whereas Watkins is also the publisher of one of Rudd's books. I ll cut out that one, but there is also the List of most spiritually influential people in 2019, which is also published by Watkins based on many criteria and it is not a list of Watkins authors. According to me it should be accepted. Rudd has been a Watkins author for years and made it to the list only this year. Many notable people, starting with the Pope are there... It should account for something... But this is just my opinion, of course...
Anyway, thanks for ur precious help and advice and I hope that I ll finally manage to pull this off... Sincerely, Marga Eleonora Scroppo alias Margajee — Preceding unsigned comment added by Margajee (talk • contribs) 10:06, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Margajee, thanks for your message. If you simply like the subject and are not related in any way, then you are correct that there is no conflict of interest that should be declared. However, the more pressing problem is the fact that your article lacks reliable sources. You listed a lot of references that are website profiles, and unfortunately, profiles alone are usually not enough to establish notability. Also, I understand that he won an award, but the award website simply lists his name and does not provide any significant coverage. Perhaps you can start by checking if he was covered by a major newspaper or news site? Good luck to you. William2001(talk) 19:07, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter November 2019
Hello William2001,
This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.
- Getting the queue to 0
There are now 804 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.
- Coordinator
Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.
- This month's refresher course
Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.
- Tools
- It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
- It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
- Reviewer Feedback
Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.
- Second set of eyes
- Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
- Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
- Arbitration Committee
The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.
- Community Wish list
There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.
