Please do the following when posting on my page(I will ignore your comment if you don't follow these simple rules):
1) Post new sections at the bottom of the page.
2) PLEASE LINK TO YOUR ARTICLE, I go through a myriad of pages a day, I won't know what you're talking about unless you link your article.
3) Please don't request me to re-review your article unless I've specifically asked you to do so. AfC is incredibly backlogged and someone will get to it when they can.
I welcome anyone to comment or reply to others on my page, but please be kind and if their post breaks one of the above three rules, please ignore them as well.
My submission was declined with the reason "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines for sports persons and athletes)". Can you explain why?
Draft:2019 Paradise Jam Tournament
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:2019_Paradise_Jam_Tournament — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geroulsm33 (talk • contribs) 21:53, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
I am not sure why the sources on this page this keep getting declined; it literally matches the sourcing for the 2018 Paradise Jam Tournament? When I changed references, I still didn't pass inspection, so I am genuinely at a loss. I'm clearly no wikipedia expert but I'm about to give up on contributing because I don't understand why my citations aren't valid and nothing seems to be sufficient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geroulsm33 (talk • contribs) 21:48, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Geroulsm33, Please see WP:INN, just because the 2018 one exists means nothing here. You're welcome to nominate that page for deletion if you see fit. We need to see significant coverage from secondary sources to establish notability. Sulfurboy (talk) 14:27, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sulfurboy, Ok, would ESPN-endorsed coverage of 4 out of 10 of the best women's teams in the country playing at the tournament suffice? Geroulsm33 (talk) 7:48, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Beyond Better Foods Article - switch name?
Hi Sulfur Boy!
Appreciate the feedback about the Beyond Better Foods article. I wasn't sure whether to put an an article about the product, or the company which mentions the product, since they're always mentioned together. Would it make sense, and address this, to switch this title or article to be Enlightened ice cream itself? That feels like an advertisement, no?
The main thing is this definitely FEELS like it should be here since its clear its reach, impact, and distribution is so sizable. The product is available all over the country and has been reviewed and covered by many (these were just a handful) outlets and individuals. Nearly of those outlets are completely independent of the company - women's health, Nosh, Redbook, Popsugar, Today.com....these were just a few (I figured at some point it merited stopping). All of these are staking their claim with editorial integrity to their readers - giving opinions on a product, often what companies like Women's Health is known for. This much coverage certainly establishes some kind of notability, no?
What would you suggest? doing? Let me know if switching this to just Enlightened, and mentioned that its made by Beyond Better Foods) make more sense, or if you have an alternative suggestion.
Thanks! Articlegooroo (talk) 03:58, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi Sulfurboy!
Saw that you rejected the last go around and resubmission after multiple articles were put in there and reference illustrating significant coverage from third party sources of both beyond better foods and its products. This company, it’s founder and it’s products have been covered by nearly every media outlet - starting with the New York Times, women’s health, GQ, women’s fitness, Forbes, and industry mags like dairy reporter and food and beverage. What more is needed?
I’m sorry, I’m just a bit frustrated here as I’m looking at other articles that have been published in similar categories with far less sources and notoriety, so am confused. Caspers, Dreyers, Halo Top, Talenti, Pepperidge Farm, among MANY others. What am I missing?

My draft for the Georgia Farmers and Consumers Market Bulletin was rejected for publication. After reading the explanation, I am still unclear why. If a trade publication like Metal Bulletin is approved (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Bulletin) what is the reasoning behind declining the Ga. Market Bulletin? It has a current Web page, published by a government entity, has an IBSN number, and references in media like the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Did I not provide enough references? https://www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/articles/business-economy/j-j-brown-1865-1953
"The Market Bulletin was created as a free weekly periodical to advertise farm products for Georgia farmers. By 1923 the Market Bulletin enjoyed a weekly circulation of 100,000. When Brown left office in 1927, the periodical had the largest circulation in the country for a publication of its kind. The bulletin, known formally as The Farmers and Consumers Market Bulletin, remains in print as of 2006."
https://www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/articles/government-politics/eugene-talmadge-1884-1946
"Talmadge was overwhelmingly reelected in 1928 and 1930. He used the department's newspaper, the Market Bulletin, to give advice to farmers on how to improve their farming skills and operations. But more important, Talmadge used the Bulletin to express his views on political issues and to present himself as an outspoken advocate for the farmers. He extolled the virtues of a laissez-faire economic policy and individual action to improve the well-being of farmers."

Thank you for your answer about references in other languages (see bellow). According to WP:RS, could you please advise if the below references are not “reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy” in compliance with Wikipedia guidelines? Are six secondary sources not enough? Once again, I appreciate very much your help.

Some of them will have gone through a process of academic peer reviewing, of varying levels of rigor, but some will not. If possible, use theses that have been cited in the literature; supervised by recognized specialists in the field; or reviewed by third parties.”

Rejected page
My page has now been rejected. I was just thinking that because he is not notable enough yet why can’t it be a redirected page to the radio stations he works at e.g. Capital so when you search for him you get redirected to that. I have seen this before for example on the page The X Factor UK there is a small section about the former spin off show The Xtra Factor which only has a few lines so when you search for it you get taken to the main page. Authentic , Genuine and verifiable References
Dear SulfurBoy,
i have carefully studied the article you refered to me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Referencing_for_beginners . I started writing article after carefully studying all the relevant articles.
My Article Draft is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lahore_Motorway_City
My article consists of one tiny line "Lahore Motorway City is a housing estate project" . i gave 16 references which are currently available online . All these references are verifiable from the sources.
This is so strange that you think that 16 Authentic , Genuine and verifiable References only for one line article are not reliable for you . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahnawaz rules (talk • contribs) 12:07, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
- Shahnawaz rules, Yeah you clearly haven't read the applicable policies if you think all 16 of those are authentic, genuine and verifiable. You're also missing the most key element which is that those sources show significant, non-routine coverage. Sulfurboy (talk) 22:40, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Draft for 'Brave'
Hey, I've submitted my draft for Joyryde's album Brave, but you have been VERY quick to decline it both times. You mention that the references are just blogs and promotional sites, but they're clearly not. I've been careful on where I get my references from, and sites like Your EDM, Dancing Astronaut, EDM Sauce, Billboard, etc, are all good news sites that have editorial oversight. I put an entire list on the talk page if you want to see their staff. Are there any exact sites you have issues with? Micro (Talk)
Draft for "Joseph Bae"
Thank you for your feedback on my first attempt at a Wikipedia article Draft:Joseph Bae. I am writing for more targeted advice on my references. I am writing about a finance executive who is referenced by name in three different Wikipedia articles (articles for KKR, Exor, Janice Y. K. Lee all reference Bae) and who is a public figure via his philanthropy (he might be worth listing under notable Harvard alums). In my research, I drew from the following sources: Wall Street Journal, Reuters, New York Times, Forbes, and Bloomberg, as well as the KKR website for basic biographical information. All these sources discussed Bae by name and in depth.
Should I look for more references? Or make better use of the ones I have? Or are these major news organizations not neutral enough?
Thank you in advance for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brick the golden (talk • contribs) 17:05, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Brick the golden, None of those sources show coverage of the subject that is either in depth or apart from being WP:ROUTINE except maybe the wedding vows article and that's not going to be enough. Sulfurboy (talk) 22:35, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Sulfurboy: I included several articles from widely distributed publications that I don't think can be considered routine coverage. Specifically, Reuters' "Exclusive: KKR Asia business architect Bae to return to U.S." and "KKR names Bae, Nuttall as co-presidents in step toward succession"; Private Equity International's "Bae's Rise to the Top of KKR"; Harvest's "Teamwork at the Top: In Conversation With KKR’s Joseph Bae and Scott Nuttall". While not in the headline, he's discussed quite a bit in the NYT article "K.K.R. Lays Out a Line of Succession, a Rare Move in Private Equity". I'm not trying to be obstinate, I just think it's clear that he's been covered in the media repeatedly, more so than many other business people who do have Wikipedia pages. Are the articles I reference above really routine coverage, akin to sports or wedding announcements? And does the subject not clear the bar of notability, "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject."?
- The Reuters and NYT article is WP:ROUTINE corporate coverage. The PEI article is unreliable as there is no confirmed author nor editorial oversight and in all likelihood black hat SEO. The Harvest source is a primary interview which does not denote notability. This page doesn't come close to denoting notability. Sulfurboy (talk) 13:39, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Catmonk (talk) 22:28, 5 April 2020 (UTC) Review of Candid (band) article - some points that may be of note
Catmonk (talk) 22:28, 5 April 2020 (UTC) Hello Sulfurboy, thank you for looking at the article I have been writing on the English band Candid - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Candid_(band) Please correct me if I am wrong but I think that the main issue with the article is the question of notability. I am hoping that the subject of the article (the band Candid) is notable as Candid meet a number of the notability Criteria for musicians and ensembles that are listed here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music) The criteria in question are 10 (Candid's music has featured the TV show "Made In Chelsea"), 12 (Candid are currently Band of the month on BBC Introducing and have had song of the week on BBC also) and 6 (Candid came first place in the "Godiva Calling" music competition). There is also an argument that could be made for 7 (most representative indie band in Coventry having sold out a 900 capacity venue). As for criterion 1 (has been the subject of mulitiple publications) - the band have been reviewed by many online magazines but also profiled in the Coventry Telegraph newspaper and its online version the Coventry Observer. I have only just included the article - https://coventryobserver.co.uk/news/music-matters-by-pete-chambers-bem-want-to-be-in-a-music-video/ and I wonder will it make a difference. I would be grateful if you could tell me whether or not my article would have more success if Candid successfully meet the criteria above. If it would, might you please be able to advise me on what I can do in order to prove that they meet these criteria? Many thanks - Catmonk
- Those criteria (many of which you misinterpreted) are just an indication of when a band MIGHT be notable. The truth is none of the sources you provided show indepth coverage to pass the WP:GNG standard. Further, you have a heavy reliance on a lot of unreliable sources. I would recommend reviewing WP:RS Sulfurboy (talk) 22:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Draft page "André Freire"
Dear Sulfurboy,
Thank you very much for your revision on the page I'm working on (see it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Andr%C3%A9_Freire). However, I'd like to make a request, if you could oblige me.
In order to be published, it says on it that I should: 1 - Use the quotations as footnotes; 2 - Use a formal tone and a neutral point of view.
Could you point me, more specifically, what may be wrong, within the text, when it comes to the neutral point of view? The information I put there is completely factual (I'm using the author's institutional CV, at his university). Also, I tried to put the references whenever I thought necessary. Maybe I should use more of them?
Thank you very much!
Best,
KaiserViriatus (Viriato Queiroga) KaiserViriatus (talk) 01:56, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- KaiserViriatus, Wikipedia is not a directory or place to post someones CV and work history. First you need to review WP:MOS for how to properly format an article. I would then heavily condense all of the publications to those most relevant, something like his five to 10 most cited works. Also, all of the external links need to be removed from the body of the article and integrated as references and inline citations if applicable. This article is a LONG way from getting accepted. Sulfurboy (talk) 04:58, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Dear Sulfurboy,
Thank you for your reply and useful explanations! In all fairness, I'm not using Wikipedia as a directory to post André Freire's CV. But seeing as I'm quite inexperienced, I asked you to get an idea of what should be done. Thus, once again, thank you! As to your indications: I'm already working on the article, while taking into consideration the formatting of a given article. Best, KaiserViriatus (talk) 16:48, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
Dear Sulfurboy, I'd like to let you know that I've finished editing the Draft article, trying to meet your indications and Wikipedia's rules (I hope I was able to not make mistakes or not use Wikipedia's rules). If you want to review it again, I'd be pleased. If not, I want to thank you, anyway, for your previous help :) Best, and hoping you're in good health, KaiserViriatus (talk) 18:06, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Question regarding my draft that is waiting review
Hello! I have been creating a few articles now since you reviewed mine so I don't really use the draft-way of writing articles that much anymore. I was though uncertain if the topic I was writing about existed already in the main space, so I decided to make a draft instead, you can find it here. Wanted to write to you directly since I am very sure that it will go through, but just wanted an administrator's clarification that there wasn't an article already for the band in question. Would you like to look at it? I'm sorry if it isn't okay to ask about looking at the draft but as I've mentioned, I'm pretty sure that the article will go through. Have a nice day! Reliable source question for David Hanna (artist) page
Hi Sulfurboy,
Thanks so much for the initial feedback on this page for the artist David Hanna: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:David_Hanna_(artist)
I'm been helping the page creator improve the sources, but we're worried by the possibility of submitting it again, getting rejected, and potentially having the page deleted as a result. Two quotes in the draft were pulled from museum exhibition catalogues, which I've seen in PDF form but I've been unable to locate online. If I rely on the catalogues to confirm the two quotes, but I can't actually link to the catalogues in the article, do we risk getting rejected again? If that's the case, I'll make more changes before resubmitting. Thanks for any additional feedback and for your patience with this request.

This comment makes perfect sense, however, the concept is already define in another article on Wikipedia at URL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copula_(probability_theory). Does it mean that I am suppose to duplicate the same information in my article? Or it it more appropriate to merge two articles? Also, I would be thankful if a senior editor could help write this up so that it is accepted? Thanks for the feedback. Earthianyogi (talk) 11:06, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Skyline Communications article (draft)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sophie_Merchouk/sandbox
Hi @Sulfurboy:,
If I understand the comments correctly, the draft I submitted was rejected because of the lack of references and quality of those included, right? If I simply add more (& third-party) references, would it then be accepted? I also read the comment you wrote on my Talk page, but I believe I have done exactly as you suggest there:
Sophie Merchouk, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that he has been paid by InsertName for his contributions to Wikipedia. |
, that's mentioned on my user page. I did disclose the fact that I am working as a copywriter for Skyline Communications, so I don't really see what the problem is there.
Please advise as to what I can do to resubmit the draft and for it to be accepted (I have not & will not edit anything in the meantime, as you requested).
- You need to properly disclose on the draft itself, not on my talk page. The reasons for the decline were provided in the decline message along with links to applicable policies. Beyond that, I have no interest in volunteering my time to help you get paid for yours.Sulfurboy (talk) 13:00, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
I have added details and trying to put for review have published by mistake. Can you please check and revert it to drafts. thanks, david 7 April 2020 (Davidindia (talk) 13:48, 7 April 2020 (UTC))

I added: "A copula is a mathematical function that provides a relationship between marginal distributions of random variables and their joint distributions. Copula is important because it represents a dependence structure without using marginal distributions. Copula has been widely used in the field of finance, but its use in signal processing is relatively new. Copula has been employed in the field of wireless communication for classifying radar signals, change detection in remote sensing applications, and EEG signal processing in medicine." However, I was unable to remove the title 'Copula signal processing' as suggested by the another editor Maury Markowitz; maybe someone could help. thanks again.Earthianyogi (talk) 16:08, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

- Earthianyogi, I'm confused by what you mean with remove the title....do you mean move the page to "Copula signal processing"? Sulfurboy (talk) 16:25, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sulfurboy, I was suggested that "The lead is a bigger issue. To start with, the article does have something like a lead already - simply remove the header "Copula in Signal Processing" and that paragraph becomes a typical lead for a math article." However, I was unable to remove/change this title. Thank you

Hi thank you for reviewing the draft I wrote. It has been rejected because sources are not verifiable. I’m trying to understand why this is as I ve used sources such as main newspapers and main art magazines in the field such as the guardian, the independent, frieze, art monthly and two publications published by Yale university press and by the British film institute. I’m really willing to understand, also for future article writing. I’d really appreciate your help in improving this article and future ones. Thank you for your help

Help with understanding why sources are not considered verifiable
Here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Elisabetta_Fabrizi Thank you reviewing the article. It has been rejected and I’m trying to understand why. I have included notes for most of the information. The sources of the notes are main newspaper criticism such as from the guardian, the New York Times, the independent, and main art magazines such as frieze and art monthly plus I cited two books published by major publishers such as Yale university press and the british film institute. Article to be deleted
Hello Sulfurboy,
Just recently, my 1st article submission (The Toast Office) to Wikipedia was declined due to unintentional phrasing that suggested advertising properties. Thus, I was notified but would like to make sure that it was in fact then accordingly deleted and that there is nothing else I need to do in this process. Thank you for all your assistance and I apologize for any misunderstanding, error or inconvenience this may have caused! I hope to contribute more suitable content for Wikipedia in the future!

References Question - Cap Gold (Musical Artist)
Hi Sulfurboy,
Hope this message finds you well.
Thank you for taking the time to review my submission for the musical artist, Cap Gold (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cap_Gold). I'm curious why the references haven't been deemed credible; I used all independent sources I found online from reputable sources: HipHopDX, HotNewHipHop, WorldstarHiphop, MaxPreps.
Can you please let me know how I should proceed to ensure that this article gets approved?
I sincerely appreciate your time and help.
Best, Zach — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zhurwitz4 (talk • contribs) 21:20, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- We need to see WP:SIGCOV that isn't just routine announcements like album/single/music video releases or record deals. Those things are considered WP:ROUTINE and don't denote notability. Same logic applies to the MaxPreps source, that's just someone's sports stats page. Literally tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people have maxpreps pages exactly like that. Thank you for taking the time to review my submission for the musical group, The Yutes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Yutes). Similar to my last post, I was wondering why the references I cited don't meet Wikipedia's guidlines; I used all independent sources I found online from reputable sources: HipHopDX, HotNewHipHop, and WorldstarHiphop.
When you have a moment, can you please educate me on sourcing approved references?
Thank you for all of your help and patience.
Best, Zach

Suppressing redirects on moving drafts
I see you are still moving drafts from user space to draft space without leaving a redirect. Is that just an oversight, or do you have a good reason for doing it? JBW (talk) 22:24, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- JBW, An oversight. So by default for whatever reason the "leave a redirect" behind is unchecked when draftifying (but not when doing other moves). However, when you do it from our AfC script it's checked by default. So I think there might have been one or two times when I either checked or unchecked incorrectly. I'll just start running them all through the draftify script to avoid this confusion in the future. Thanks again. Sulfurboy (talk) 23:05, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the explanation. I wonder why it is set up to work that way. I'm not going to claim that it's a really big deal, but it does seem to me slightly better to leave a redirect, for the reason I mentioned before. JBW (talk) 23:21, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- JBW, Who knows. Probably because the scripts were created for different needs even though they both accomplish the same thing. But I do fully agree with your sentiment that it's always best to leave the redirect and since that's how it is set by default in the AfC script, then that seems the appropriate thing to do. Hi, the page I am working on entitled "Alberto Rey" (a visual artist) was flagged as not being written from a neutral point of view. Could you please point out what language or parts of the article appear biased? I do not believe I used any "peacocking" language as the flag suggests. Any descriptions of his projects were not judgments or about the quality, success, or merit of his activities, but merely relaying the information I compiled. I apologize as this is my first article written for Wikipedia and though I have been reading through the many guidelines and help pages, this process is still somewhat confusing to me. - Page 28 of 55 shows he got credit for actually playing in two games (i.e. yes, he played at least one down in two different games), rather than the reserve/did not play designation. And this is an official CFL document, so is definitely a 'proper source' Joeykai (talk) 05:08, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello,
You denied this originally because of lack of citations (even though most of the people's Wikipedia pages, which are linked, verify that they are alumni). Then when I took the time to source over 100 articles and bio pages on other people/organisation's websites, all of which explicitly confirm that they are alumni or have won the awards referenced, you declined it again and accused me of bombarding with "Bunch of nonsense references that have little to nothing to do with the subject." Not really sure what you want here - please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fefu2011 (talk • contribs) 07:34, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello! Thanks for reviewing the article about Ron Graham. Just wondering if there was anything particular that wasn't sourced properly?
Re: notability, I sourced a number of reviews of his books in the Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper, which are not written by him and are independent of him, as per the guidelines:
https://www.scribd.com/document/455596727/Globe-and-Mail-Oct-1990-Report-on-the-State-of-the-Canadian-Soul https://www.scribd.com/document/455624433/Globe-and-Mail-Oct-17-1992-All-in-la-famille https://www.scribd.com/document/455711663/Winnipeg-Free-Press-Ron-Graham https://www.scribd.com/document/455596732/Globe-and-Mail-May-2011-How-Pierre-Trudeau-changed-Can
I also included a reference to the Oxford Companion to Canadian Literature, which lists notable Canadian authors:
https://www.oxfordreference.com/view/10.1093/acref/9780195411676.001.0001/acref-9780195411676
Graham is a very famous / well known political author here in Canada – the hard thing about drafting his article was that most of his work was published in the 80s and 90s. :( Please let me know if there are specific things that should be removed.
I'm new to editing WP and would like to make my submissions more efficient/compliant in the future.
thanks!! :)
