Not perhaps unnaturally, it seemed to me that "Tom Rob Smith" was unlikely to be his full birth name (not that that's particularly important), with something along the lines of "Thomas Robert Smith" being the most likely. This in mind, plus his mother being Swedish, the birth of Thomas Robert Smith registered in March 1979, mother "Nordstrom", at Croydon would seem to be the subject of the article- of course this is original research, but thought it might be worth including here nonetheless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.68.40 (talk) 00:04, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

: Also- several sources (some now cited in the article) give his parents as Barbro and Ron Smith; online sources indicate a Barbro Nordstrom-Smith to be a retired antique dealer, corroborating the Smith/ Nordstrom marriage and parentage of Tom Rob Smith as above. This all put here more "for the record" than anything else, of course.
