Harun Osman (Turkish pronunciation: [harˈyn ˈosman], Ottoman Turkish: هارون عثمان, romanizedHarūn ʿOsmān; born 22 January 1932), also known as Harun Osman Osmanoğlu, with a surname as required by the Republic of Turkey, or known by the Ottoman imperial name as Şehzade (Prince) Harun Osman Osmanoğlu Efendi, is the 46th Head of the House of Osman, which ruled the Ottoman Empire from 1299 until the abolition of the Sultanate in 1922.

Personal life

Harun was born on January 1932 at Damascus in present-day Syria. He is a great-grandson of Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. His grandfather was Mehmed Selim and his father was Mehmed Abdülkerim. His elder brother, Dündar was born in 1930. He is married to Farizet Darvich Hanım (born 1947). He has three children: Orhan Osmanoğlu, Abdülhamid Kayıhan Osmanoğlu and Nurhan Osmanoğlu.

He became the 46th Head of the Osmanoğlu family, after the death of his predecessor and elder brother, Dündar on 18 January 2021.
