IF YOU ARE HERE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT MY USERBOX MIGRATION, READ Wikipedia:Userbox migration FIRST! I WILL NOT RESPOND UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THIS.

Important Message from Scepia

Since the UBXs are moved, the edit history is all still intact. So if you really need to know who made it, you can check. But honestly, the way I see it, who cares? I don't think people should be so selfish as to stop the good faith actions of another user, just so they can be self-promoted. Honestly, honestly, we are an encyclopedia, not a popularity contest.

Userbox migrations

Scepia- I have been running RC on the template namespace and have two requests. (1) Please mark your edits minor where possible so that RC patrollers can pay less attention to them. (2) Babel boxes like {{User en}} should not be userfied (see the second point of WP:GUS#German implementation features). BigDT 01:07, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just the point I was coming here to make: Babel/language userboxes are "non-controversial" and thus do not need to be moved. (Particularly one as widely used as the {{User_en}} box.) I'll take it that this was in error, and revert the change.--LeflymanTalk 01:14, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum: I see that you've just done so yourself. Thanks, --LeflymanTalk 01:15, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the template talk page back. Cheers. Dina 01:24, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just one more note: If you have to revert a move, but can't because a soft redirect is in the way, please get admin help instead of copy-and-pasting; that separates edit history from content and is therefore technically a violation of the GFDL. If you need to make an uncontroversial or consensual move, then you can use the {{db-move}} template to request that the target page be deleted by an admin. I've corrected {{user en}} for you; this is just something to keep in mind for the future. Thanks! — TKD::[[User

Puniser fan userbox migration

i see that you migrated the punisher fan userbox to your own userspace, but being the creator of the said userbox, may i kindly know the reason as to why? as im not fully versed in UBX migration policy? †Bloodpack† 02:29, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the prompt reply, but i felt being responsible for the said userbox, i took the liberty of moving it to my own userspace.thanks for the vigilance, ill try to move my created userboxes to my userspace.cheers! †Bloodpack† 03:14, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User Box counting user box

If you are interested, you may wish to add {{User ubx num|7|[[User:Scepia/User Boxes|created or adopted]]}} to your page. Just replace 7 with the number you have actually adopted or created and "User Boxes" with the homepage of your user box collection. I have it on my page with 7. Userbox Migration

Hey, how's it goin'? I'm not meaning to be rude, or anything, but why must you "host" all of those userboxes? Are you trying to make yourself known, or something? If so, that seems fairly selfish of you, because your moving of those userboxes does nothing but cause difficulty for those that already had the userbx on their user page. Also, it's a lot easier to type {{user whatever}} than it is to type {{User:Scepia/whatever}}. Please take what I've said into consideration next time you are moving a userbox to one of your subpages for selfish reasons.

Geeklera Segway Geek 19:00, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Geekler and Bloodpack.YOU are a WikiTroll. It is very selfish. The migration took away some of my userboxes when I typed your "new and improved" code. Yashtulsyan 19:22, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, the Userboxes are YOURs? I'm sorry, this is a neutral place. No one owns content. I propose moving all of them to User:UserBox. McKay 16:06, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox Migration yet again

Can you please explain to me why you are migrating all of these userboxes? --ChrisGriswold (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA)

Misunderstanding

Why do you congratulate someone for making unfounded, selfish claims? The truth is that userboxes need to be moved from the template space to the userspace... and yet you agree with him and he is a hero for it. Scepia 01:56, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am not making him a hero. I just congratulated him for being bold. And I must confess was agreeing with him about typing user is easier than User:Scepia/ (but I did not agree when Geekler went far enough and starting calling you selfish). But that was before I read Wikipedia:Userbox migration. Now I have understood why the userbox migration is continuing, so I do not agree with him now. sign here HAPPY HOLIDAYS!s d 3 1 4 1 5 13:44, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User Boxes

Not to be rude or anyhting but I too would like to know why so many userboxes have been moved under your namesake. It causes a lot of trouble and work for anyone who already has them on their userpage.Rearete 00:52, 24 December 2006 (UTC) May I point out that you choose to migrate the userboxes?Yashtulsyan 01:49, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes, i worked hard for all of my userboxes to fit and look nice, and now they are plagued by migrated messages. Who gives you authority to mess up our boxes like this? Not to be rude, but there was nothing wrong before, and maybe you could at least change the boxes to thier migrated namesspace if you chose to do so.  scrumshus Talk to me 20:41, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I see you've placed merge tags to move Multiplayer game into Computer and video games. Did YOU read the Userbox Migration page?

Just because it says "Hey, move all the userbox templates to user spaces instead." doesn't give you the liberty to just put your name out there by moving them all to your own userspace. You didn't even bother to update this page which now conatins over half of the userbox redirects to your userspace. I understand you're trying to help, but you've got to think how many people put time and effort into some of these, and you go and just take it all for yourself. It was a good effort, but next time think before you act. Spike 04:33, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About the Star Fox userbox that is now "yours" due to userbox migration, instead of keepin the words "Star Fox" in the ID box, couldn't you use the Star Fox logo (located at Image:StarFoxlogo.JPG)? Just a suggestion. ChromeWulf ZX 19:01, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

one final note about UBX migration

i understand your point about migrating the userboxes under a userspace, but please consider asking the creators of these userboxes to move it under their userspaces FIRST, before taking drastic actions. if they dont heed then thats the time you move them on your own. i think its called RESPECT. hope you dont run in again with this kind of trouble. cheers and happy new year †Bloodpack† 22:43, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My KoC Userbox

Listen

I created the KoC userbox under the name of Template:User Kings of chaos when i was new to wikipedia. I later moved it here, and had trouble finding an admin to delete the Template page. If you can find an administrator to do so, leave a comment here. Also, I (no hard feelings) think it was rude to move the userbox to one of your subpages before notifying me.

Kingalex56 T C W U

He moved a userbox from your space to his? That's not userbox migration, that's... that's theft. D•a•r•k•nes•s•L•o•r•di•a•n•••CCD••• 20:39, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let Me Know What Ya Think

Hey Scepia, borrowed one of your already made templates (credit was given :o)) and I made one making fun of "you" being the "Person of the Year" for 2006 by Time Magazine....everyone can use this one. It is located here: User:Orangemonster2k1/Userboxes/Time2006 If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you tell me where a list of the letter/number combos and their corresponding colors are...Thanks! - SVRTVDude 08:18, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you stealing userboxes?

Why are you stealing all of the cvg userboxes? They are not yours. Some people would have worked very hard on their userboxes, and then you come in, steal them, and take credit. Like who are you? A theif? Surrender all those userboxes NOW, or else everyone will get mad at you.

Yes I have read the userbox migration page. Where it says that userboxes could be moved to a userspace, it meant the creator's userspace, and not your userspace. Did it say Scepia's userspace anywhere in that page? No it didn't, so you have no right to go steal people's userboxes for your own enjoyment. Don't think that everyone doesn't care, they do. They don't like to see people crediting you for userboxes that you stole from the original creator. What if someone went over and stole all of YOUR userboxes? How would you feel? Well thats how me and everyone else felt when you stole all of OUR userboxes. Now give them back before you get banned by the Wikipedia admins. THOSE USERBOXES ARE NOT YOURS! Now restore the userboxes to the eternal light of its owner. You better go do that or else everyone is going to report you to the admins of Wikipedia, maybe even Jimbo might get involved in this conflict. This is serious Scepia, don't take userboxes, everyone hates you when you do that. If you want to be well-known and popular on Wikipedia, you have to give back those userboxes to their original owner first. Listen to my advice because you will be banned in the very distant future by the admins if you continue doing stupid actions like this. Seriously, you have to stop this!

UPDATE: Well maybe Jimbo Wales said that all userboxes should be in a userpage but they should be in the creator's userpage, you have no right to damage people's own work without permission. Now STOP this madness before it's too late.

UPDATE 2: Jimbo NEVER said for YOU to put everyone's userbox in YOUR userpage. He said for the CREATOR of the userbox to put the userbox in his or her's userpage. Like I said earlier, you have no right to damage other people's property without permission. Now give everyone THEIR userboxes back so they can put their own userboxes back in the proper spot, which is in their own userspace.

Users need respect

Taken from User_talk:Masky

I'm still trying to find out where information like that is, but don't you think that users that made their own userboxes should have it on their own userpage so not only they will following the new rule for userboxes by Jimbo Wales, but they actually get some credit instead of a userbox theif getting all of the credit for them.

Not a rant, but a suggestion

Can you add [[Category:Wikipedians who need to update their userboxes|{{PAGENAME}}]] to the original userbox page before/after you move it? That way somebody who feels like it can go around updating the moved userboxes. That person will unfortunately not be me. User Box Sugegstion

I made a UserBox Called User Nintedophile that you might be interested in. It looks like this:

Hilarious edits (and other discrepancies from the truth)

So in what way are your amendments hilarious? They seem very similar to vandalism.

In fact, you seem to claim you're against vandalism when really you seem to thrive upon it. Don't you think you should either remove all references to your past vandalism OR remove all statements on your userpage saying you're against it?

Surely your entire userpage is a Vanity page, and as such (going by your own self-embraced ideal that all vanity pages should be removed) you should remove it yourself.

Just a thought. Blackmatt666 23:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zelda: TP ranking

Since Game Rankings requires only 10 reviews to be ranked, you have to switch the search terms from 20 reviews to 10 reviews. There are 2 games with less than 20 reviews that rank higher than TP (the GBC version of Metal Gear Solid at 96.3% from 17 reviews, and the PC game Championship Manager 4 at 94.9% from 16 reviews). Apple-iPhone.jpg

I have reverted your change to this image. The subject of the photograph is the physical product itself. Although it screen is included in the image, the image is, quite obviously, not a screen grab. Now, of course, if you're that concerned about it, someone could easily post out the screen all together and you'll be left with an image with a big black screen. Hardly attractive, but if that's what you'd rather see in the article, then so be it. Other than that, I suggest you enlist the help of an admin for explanation. Roguegeek (talk) 08:13, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia nor myself care about your personal opinion about copyright. Policy clearly defines these things and I would suggest you read up on it if you want to constructively edit. Maybe even think about using one of the "adopt an admin" programs they have to help guide you on this. I would also suggest that you take the time you spend trying to keep useless failed fair use images around on Wikipedia and put it to use trying to find free alternatives. We should be so lucky the English Wikipedia even allows fair use of any kind (which no other non-English Wikipedia does). Roguegeek (talk) 10:24, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zeruda/Zelda

Doesn't romanizing ゼルダ as Zeruda violate the Manual of Style (see Japan-realted articles > Romanization > Body Text)?

For transliterations from katakana, use the English spelling if available (i.e., Thunderbird (サンダーバード Sandābādo) instead of Sandābādo). If an English spelling is not available, but a spelling from another language of origin exists, use it (i.e., Homard (ja:オマール Omāru) rather than Omāru, and Zha cai (ja:ザーサイ Zāsai) rather than Zāsai). Otherwise, macrons should be used for all long vowels indicated with ー, including "a", "e", and "i".´

After all, the name is based on Zelda Fitzgerald, so it's certainly English. --Pidgeot (t) (c) (e) 16:36, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(your reply copied for the sake of context - feel free to reply here if you prefer, I'm watching the page)

It seems like that MoS sections says to do both. As in The Legend of Zelda (ゼルダの伝説, Zeruda no Densetsu). There are 2 reasons for it to be this way: The "Zelda" part is included as the main title; also, the romaji should stay consistent. By that I mean, it should be stricly Zelda (ゼルダ, Zeruda). I think throwing English into the romaji would confuse people, and it's known at Zeruda in Japan, right? I will argue about the the Zelda Fitzgerald thing too. The name was based off an English woman, but considering that "Zelda" can't be said in Japanese, they changed it. I consider the Japanese version to be "official", far above any translations. Basically, if the North American version was never created, we would all call it "Zeruda". Scepia 21:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know whether or not Japanese people realize it's really "Zelda" and not "Zeruda" - yes, it's written ゼルダ on the boxes, not Zelda, but the katakana reveals that it's not originally Japanese, and when romanizing with revised Hepburn (as the MoS says to do), it is standard to use the "original" spelling.
However, I realize that there seems to be a tendency towards not following the part I quoted at all - Super Smash Bros. Melee uses Sumasshu Burazāzu Derakkusu instead of Smash Bros. Deluxe, Luigi uses Ruīji, Charizard uses Rizādon, and heck, Princess Zelda even has Princess written as Purinsesu - so that might be a good indication that there is a different rule for that part of articles. I'll admit I can't find it, though, but I'm not really going to press further about this - I just happened to notice that it said Ken instead of Tsurugi (at least I know THAT part needed to be changed :) ), and changed the rest since that's how I read the MoS. --Pidgeot (t) (c) (e) 23:41, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
