Updated photo of the President

You lot keep telling me to talk, with regards to the constant image change of the former president of Somalia sheikh Sharif.

Now we can both agree the current picture you people have place on wiki page is gross and certainly not his best professional picture.

Is there any particular reason why keeping changing back to possibly the worst pic imaginable.

What's your angle and what do you hope to get out of doing that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abdallem (talkcontribs) 11:57, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abdallem, when you leave a message on my talk page you are talking to an individual, so there is no need to address me as 'you lot'. Also, at the end of your message please ad your signature using four tildas.

In my opinion the more recent picture is a far better picture of Sheikh Sharif and I also think it is more flattering. The older picture has been edited from the original, which makes it look blurred and I think it is less flattering. I also think the headphone on one side of his head is not ideal. We are both entitled to our opinions. I agree with you that another change of picture would be helpful. It would be far better to have a recent picture of Sheikh Sharif from the current election campaign.

I also agree that the picture is not his best professional picture. There are better pictures of him from a professional point of view on other websites, but on Wikipedia we can only use the pictures we have access too. The best solution would be to upload a good recent picture to Wikimedia Commons and use it. Unless you took the picture yourself on your own camera or can prove that the rights to it have been released to the public it is difficult to do, and will probably be deleted.

I have already asked you, if you want to change the picture, to discuss on the articles' talk page, but you have not done so. I don't understand why you think the picture is 'the worst pic imaginable', but if there is a consensus of editors who agree with you about that then it can be changed.

I also understand that elections are coming up, which may make the issue feel urgent to you. In fact the picture was changed a couple of months ago and there were no objections at the time. What I would advise you most strongly is to be polite, don't engage in edit warring, but use Wikipedia's accepted methods to get the opinion of other editors on this and do it by consensus.

You have asked me what I hope to get out of this. I think we both feel that the picture we prefer is the best one. Calling me an 'annoying troll' because my opinion on this is different to yours is extremely rude and I feel I deserve an apology for that. You have not given an apology for your insulting comment, but I appreciate that you are now making an attempt to communicate the issue on my talk page. Also, when you ask me 'what's your angle', you are using American slang. I don't speak American slang, so it will not necessarily be clear to me what you mean if you use it.
