Jessica Zi Jia Guo (born 23 June 2005)[1] is a left-handed foil fencer. In 2019, Jessica won the silver medal in the women's foil event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru.[2][3][4] In the final, she lost against Lee Kiefer, also a fencer, but right-handed.[4][5]

Her sister Zi Shan Guo has represented Canada team in Epee fencing, [6] a different type of fencing from Jessica Zi Jia Guo.[7] Jessica Guo learns foil at Hua Hua Fencing Club in Markham, a suburb north of Toronto.[8] Jessica Guo's fencing teacher is Jin Ko, a Korean fencing teacher who has also taught in China. [9] Jessica Guo is unusually short for fencing, [10] with the lowest average height being at 1.77 metres, [11] but with Jessica Guo being only 1.64 meters. [12] Despite her height, practicing fencing for almost a decade, [13] she has become a fencer in provincial and national competitions in Canada, as well as around the world. [14] learning with Mr Jin Ko. Jessica Guo's former fencing teacher is Li HuaHua, [15] but Li HuaHua has since retired and moved back to China, so that is why her coach is now Jin Ko. [16]
