Rabri Devi (born 1959) is the 30th chief minister of Bihar (Term: March 11, 2000 - 2005 (5 years)). She is from the Rashtriya Janata Dal. This is her 3rd term as Chief Minister of Bihar. She became the first woman chief minister of Bihar on July 25, 1997. As chief minister of Bihar, her first term lasted less than 2 years and ended on February 12, 1999 and the second term lasted less than 1 year from March 9, 1999 to March 3, 2000. Devi is illiterate, and is seen as little more than a figurehead for her husband who rules the state from behind the scenes.


Born in the year 1959, in the family of Sri Sib Prasad Chaudhary of Salarkalan, Line Bazar, Gopalganj, she got married to Laloo Prasad Yadav in 1973 at the age of 14. (It is now illegal in India to marry girls under 18). She has two sons and six daughters.
