Welcome to my talk page. This operates as a normal talk page: you write a message, I reply. After a while I tend to delete items that have been dealt with,* such as notices, complaints and old issues. I do tend to keep nice things around for much longer, so keep that in mind. (*I started archiving in May 2021! There is a two-year gap in archiving that my secretary hasn't been able to explain.)

A barnstar for you!

The Civility Barnstar
In addition to your excellent work on content, I am impressed by your very civil efforts to promote civility. Athough I don't know any magic that changes angry, aggressive editors into polite ones, thanks for being you. HouseOfChange (talk) 01:20, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BILL HOMEWOOD

Hi Possibly

Wikipedia Volunteer Response Team gave me the link to this page. I wonder if you can help? Here is my query:

It has been brought to my attention that there is a banner above the entry about me on Wikipedia. The banner appears to suggest that the entry, or some part of it, has been improperly secured. I can assure you that it was certainly neither entered nor improperly secured by ME.

Can you arrange for the removal of this banner, please? I am extremely embarrassed at the suggestion.

In addition I see that weirdly my career seems to have stopped 30 years ago or more, though when I last looked at the page a few months ago, the most interesting part of my professional life (1990 - 2021, spent with the RSC, in the West End, on British television and in the recording studio) was comprehensively covered. Has someone simply deleted chunks? I do not know how Wikipedia works, but am surprised that this is possible, and feel the information should be restored - at least in precis. Quite apart from all that, in the last four years alone I have published 4 more books, won 2 industry recording awards in the USA, been nominated for an Audie and have recorded perhaps 10 audio books for Naxos. I see none of them in the entry. Here is a link about my recently published books: https://www.amazon.com/Bill-Homewood/e/B08RY189RL?ref_=dbs_p_pbk_r00_abau_000000

Obviously I was not responsible for the Wiki posting about me, but if it's going to be there I'd rather it were accurate and useful, and did not impugn my integrity. It looks like MER-C was the one who tagged the article as possibly having been "created or edited in return for undisclosed payments". ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:26, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
...because it was created by a spam sockpuppet. This is reason enough to suspect the article is a product of undisclosed paid editing, but it does not imply that it was paid for by you. MER-C 18:32, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I had trimmed the article (Bill Homewood) of unsourced material following MER-C's tagging. Looking at it now, it is reasonably sourced, so I removed the tag. The tagged version looked very much like promotional editing. --- Possibly (talk) 18:33, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Possibly. The content of the article appears to be a reduction of material on my website billhomewood.com. I am glad at least that the unfortunate banner has been removed, and grateful to you. Bill
