Request on 19:54:22, 20 October 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Djscamper

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to look at the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation's page. This is my first page addition. I do work for the Foundation and I have that in my profile.

I added news stories from Los Altos Town Crier. I also changed the text so that it does not match our website as much. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. I tried adding our logo, but that does not seem to work.

Djscamper (talk) 19:54, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Djscamper thanks for disclosing your COI. Also thanks for improving the copyright violation but it is still very close see this with several sentences direct copies. Unfortunate I'm blocked from the new sources being from the UK (ex EU) - however they all appear to be from the same local source. All new articles on Wikipedia have to show the subject is notable (See WP:N) which in most cases requires significant coverage in multiple independent (WP:INDY) reliable sources (WP:RS), and just a single local source with multiple posts is not likely to be enough. Note images must be uploaded WP:UPIMAGE (copyright allowing) you cannot hotlink to an image on the internet. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 20:06, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see that "This user is not an administrator and does not wish to be one" Timtrent still believes that the Ashley Strohmier article should not be created. However, I find all 31 sources present to be about as relevant as https://dbs.anumuseum.org.il/skn/en/c6/e174834/Place/Antwerp , which is revered more than https://worldpopulationreview.com/world-cities/antwerp-population . None of these are mentioned at Reliable Perennial sources. Please explain Sucker for All (talk) 19:57, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, she literally works for News Corp is on 5 days a week, almost alway as a guest, and sometimes a host, for Fox & Friends First, a show viewed by on average between 500 and 800 thousand people Sucker for All (talk) 20:00, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sucker for All Please do not misrepresent what I have said as believing that the article should not be created. User:Sucker for All/Ashley Strohmier does not contain 31 sources. Nor should it. It simply needs to comntain the right sourcing to allow it to pass scrutiny

Ok! I have proposed 31 different sources (8 were present in the article). Very few of them are considered wiki pages. All are among the different secondary sources that mention her. She's a very notable figure and that's key for all to understand Sucker for All (talk) 08:28, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Sucker for All the way that Wikipedia works is subjects need to have sources that show they are notable based on the guidelines (in this case WP:BIO). What is not deemed notable is just being watched by a lot of people. Someone could be viewed by millions on TV, but if no one writes about them they are not notable as Wikipedia requires. KylieTastic (talk) 08:56, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
glamourpath, starsgab, factsbio, bio-peida, wealthyspy, chandigarhfirst, xycinews, biographyhoses, arealnews, informationflare, factualhub and yankeestv are just Among the sources that discuss her.. Could you point to example of other people who are viewed by Millions of people daily, who are explicitly *not notable* ? Sucker for All (talk) 13:40, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sucker for All sorry but most of those site names mean nothing to me but several look like wikis/user-generated content so not helpful. She is not "explicitly *not notable*", if several independent reliable sources have significant coverage then add them and resubmit. I know nothing about Ashley Strohmier, and but I know what Fox & Friends is so I would expect sources, unless she is new in which case just give it time. I can't think of any very similar cases at the moment, but we get lots of YouTubers and social media "celbs" with millions of subscribers who are not "notable" due to little interest outside of the platform/channel. KylieTastic (talk) 14:18, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Several are wikis, most are not. Could you direct me into a spot where we could investigate these various sources? Sucker for All (talk) 14:23, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, Could you point to example of other people who are viewed by Millions of people daily, who are explicitly *not notable* ? Sucker for All (talk) 14:25, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sucker for All there is no definitive list of definitive good sources and apart from what Wikipedia:Reliable sources defines WP:RSPSOURCES has a list of the discussed sources that have been deemed good or bad. There are millions of reliable sources, there are also vast amounts of bad sources. Generally if not listed look for issues such as user-generated, user-submitted (including all PR), paid promotion, and clearly biased sources. This has an overlap with non-independent sources but not always. I generally do not link essays but see WP:THREE as it is widely accepted as good advice. As for the second repeated question I have already answered. However I see from the F&F host list she is just a host, in which case there are so many people that have appeared once of a few times on popular shows that millions see, that does not make them notable. Also I note from her Twitter she only has 4,718 followers and mostly re-tweets so it looks like she maybe just chooses not to engage much outside of her job and thus be less likely to have things written about her. However if you want to have another go do look at WP:THREE. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 08:19, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think adweek, Columbia Missourian and the secondary nypost (or primary Fox News) would all be considered mainstream enough to qualify for WP:THREE in addition, of course, to Many sources that are not mentioned by wikipedia either way. I think making the case for her being notable is more difficult than noting that she is notable, given she's literally co-Hosting Fox and Friends First for the 2nd day in a row as I type Sucker for All (talk) 09:37, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jazzsteppa: Submission Declined

Hey KylieTastic,

My name is Gal Moore. I was a co-founding member of Jazzsteppa; a live dubstep duo that was active between 2007 and 2013. We released numerous records on known dubstep record labels (HotFlush, Studio Rockers), got radio play on BBC1 & BBC6, press coverage in mainstream media (IDJ, MusicWeek, MIXMAG), and played stages at some of the UK's biggest festivals (Glastonbury, Big Chill & Shambala) as well as touring extensively in Europe, USA and India.

We were the first, and only outfit to merge dubstep with live instruments, and for that got acknowledgement from many other known artists that collaborated with us (i.e Borgore, Untold, Foreign Beggars).

I have a lot of references for everything written above - and was hoping you could explain what you would expect to see in our wikipedia article to establish significant coverage?

I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks,

Gal — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gushgushoni (talkcontribs) 19:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Gushgushoni all new articles on Wikipedia have to show the subject is notable (See WP:N) which in this case we would start with Wikipedia:Notability (music) - see the criteria in WP:MUSICBIO. Otherwise if not meeting those criteria then we would use WP:GNG which in most cases requires significant coverage in multiple independent (WP:INDY) reliable sources (WP:RS). Also note that along with showing notability all claims should be sourced especially as you have a WP:COI. There is much unsourced content including the Discography as the only source is not reliable as discogs is user-generated. Hope that helps explain things KylieTastic (talk) 10:21, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I translated an article from the Russian Wikipedia. There is also this article in the Polish, Ukrainian and Turkish Wikipedia. In Russian it was more voluminous, so I translated it from there. Will there be time to take a look ? Thanks ! 37.230.234.79 (talk) 13:08, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
