Brent Olson page
I managed to find Brents new book on Amazon but he still should have his page reinstated. I read the discussion about the deletion and saw It was done based on the site newspapers.com which doesn't make sense to me. I have his other books so I know he is legit. Been following him for years. I don't know much about how Wikipedia works other than I use it from time to time. When I read his page a few years ago, it looked good to me. The other day I tried and found it was removed. I just don't understand why. Maybe you could reinstate it or please tell me what was wrong with it. His latest article that is on dtn, and other sites around the US was where I found out about the deletion. Capman 99 (talk) 15:19, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Capman 99: Since I'm not an administrator, I can neither read the deleted article nor reinstate it. Wikipedia's notability requirements for authors is not based on the books they write, but what other people write about the authors and their books. On Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brent Olson, you can click on "Help:My article got nominated for deletion!" and scroll down to the "What you can do after deletion?" section to see some options you have now. Hope this helps, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 22:29, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
I talked to Brent Olson and he has updated his page. How do I reach a admin to see if he can get his page back up? Capman 99 (talk) 18:08, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Capman 99: The fact that you talked with Olson makes me concerned that you may have a conflict of interest, which must be declared on your user page. After that, feel free to utilize the options I mentioned above. GoingBatty (talk) 18:17, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
I don't think I even have a page. I don't know how to do it or what I would even put on it. I'm just a computer technician that runs a computer shop. I'm semi retired so I don't really need a page. How would I know if I had a page? I signed up with Wikipedia so does that mean I have a page? I contacted Brent through email and he answered. What do I do? I don't want a page. Capman 99 (talk) 18:07, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Capman 99: Notice that your user name is displayed in red, which indicates that you do not yet have a user page. Please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If this applies to your relationship with Olson, and you are going to be involved in the creation of a Wikipedia article about Olson, then you can create a user page by clicking on your red user name and follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI. GoingBatty (talk) 21:27, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
Brent Olson contacted me and I guess he updated something called wix. Not sure what that is but he said he is going to get help updating his Wikipedia page. So I guess all is well. I still have questions about Wikipedia. Would you like to email me and educate me a bit about Wikipedia? Do other computer shops actually have pages? ctsrepairs@outlook.com Capman 99 (talk) 18:28, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Capman 99: Wix.com is a website builder tool that is not associated with Wikipedia. I prefer to keep conversations about Wikipedia on Wikipedia talk pages, and not on email. Wikipedia hosts encyclopedia articles about notable topics, and many computer shops would not meet the inclusion criteria defined at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). GoingBatty (talk) 21:27, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I use Wikipedia but never saw a small computer shop. Mostly corporations and stuff. I find Wikipedia very useful finding out about computers, programming, and electronics. Thank you for being kind and patient. Capman 99 (talk) 15:14, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
Thank for your help
https://i.ibb.co/hg5XXqX/141234.jpg I draw a picture, I hope it can make you understand the situation of prince Mikhailo Volkonsky. I don't have any data about Borovsk defenders and attackers. In prince Mikhailo Volkonsky early campaign he led around 3,000 man-at-arms. According by Y. G. Alekseev, Tushino Army around 13,000 ~ 15,000 during 1610 poles invasion. Volkonsky is the royal prince and Pantler, His title is Okolnichy, he can lead 3,000 men without Tsar permission. He defeat Tushino army and Ivan Bolotnikov many time during 1606-1610. He can defeat False Dmitry II with Shuysky support. When the Seven Boyars overthrew the Vasili IV, oops, no one can help prince Volkonsky. He is surrounded by enemies, he still keep an epic fight with ten of thousand enemies in 3 weeks.--折毛 (talk) 07:00, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- @折毛: Hi there! I hope you will add this information (with reliable sources) to your Draft:Siege_of_Borovsk. You may be interested in the page Wikipedia:Maps for Wikipedia for help making a map that does not have modern highways on it. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 20:52, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
De-pollution of AC with 0 elements
Re 'the category page states that this category "contains non-article pages"': to what category text are you referring? ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 12:33, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Tom.Reding: Hi there! The blue box at the top of Category:AC with 0 elements states "This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages..." Therefore, I've added there {{polluted category}} template so this category doesn't appear on Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories. Thanks for asking, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 18:24, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- The text, "
It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject.
", contains the word "or", and therefore should not be used to determine whether or not a category is or isn't polluted. AC with 0 elements, and all similar categories, only contains articles, and is/are therefore not polluted. ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 19:13, 7 November 2021 (UTC)- @Tom.Reding: But it doesn't only contain articles - it also contains:
- User talk:14.139.185.114

- This is strange. How are you determining that?
- I just used AWB to grab all 660k+ pages, used the native filter function to keep everything except "mainspace", and was left with 0.
- Further, manually inspecting all of the above pages, none of them show "AC with 0 elements" next to "Hidden categories:". "AC with 0 elements" only shows when previewed, under "This page is a member of 2 hidden categories (help) :". How is that happening? A null edit did not fix this.
- Even further, Module:Authority control contains the code:
- @Tom.Reding: But it doesn't only contain articles - it also contains:
- The text, "
local title = mw.title.getCurrentTitle()
local namespace = title.namespace
...
if namespace == 0 or testcases then
local eCat = 'AC with '..rct..' elements'
elementsCat = '[[Category:'..eCat..']]'..p.redCatLink(eCat)
end
...
local auxCats = worldcatCat..elementsCat..multipleIdCat..suppressedIdCat..suppressedIdCatArts..
deprecatedIdCat..differentOnWDCat..sameOnWDCat..stateCat
if testcases then
auxCats = mw.ustring.gsub(auxCats, '(%[%[)(Category)', '%1:%2') --for easier checking
end
- which should make it impossible for
namespace != 0
pages to be categorized. ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 20:38, 7 November 2021 (UTC)- @Tom.Reding: In AWB, I logged in as BattyBot, and ensured List > Remove non-mainspace was unchecked. Then I searched Source: Category (NL, Admin & Bot) and Category: AC with 0 elements, and got 664,049 results. I then clicked the Filter button, checked every namespace, unchecked Main/Article, and clicked Apply. Once again, I got the 16 pages I posted above. GoingBatty (talk) 01:16, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- which should make it impossible for
creation Marzio Honorato
Hello, help me to create the page of Marzio Honorato (Italian actor) I have already created a draft here ... Draft:Marzio Honorato. Liogrmlt (talk) 01:13, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Liogrmlt: Done! Please add your sources to the draft before submitting it. If you know Honorato or work for him or have any other relationship that would cause a conflict of interest, you must declare it on your user page before proceeding. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 01:28, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
The source is taken from wikipedia in Italian. Liogrmlt (talk) 02:32, 8 November 2021 (UTC) I'm not very practical, I'm only interested in creating the version on the English wiki, can you help me get it accepted? Liogrmlt (talk) 02:54, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Liogrmlt: You can consider using the sources in it:Marzio Honorato in your English draft, and also find your own sources. You should also follow the instructions in WP:TFOLWP. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 01:55, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
Hi, I tried to put the sources on the draft, but they keep refusing it, I also put the imdb source link, can you help me to accept it? Liogrmlt (talk) 14:35, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Liogrmlt: I tweaked your draft, and then rejected it again. Please do not resubmit it until you have added multiple reliable sources with footnotes. Please review the blue links in the pink boxes at the top of your draft for more information. GoingBatty (talk) 13:56, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
Can you help me with the references? I don't know how to insert them. Liogrmlt (talk) 15:01, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Liogrmlt: I added a temporary reference for you, so you can see how it works. To have this draft accepted at the English Wikipedia, you may need to find more reliable sources than were used in the Italian Wikipedia. Also, I see that you declared your COI on the draft, but not on your user page. You can use {{userboxCOI}} for this if you like, or just type a sentence or two. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 14:18, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
sourcing issues in the article "neuroscience"
we have recently submitted the article neuroscience for peer review and one of the issues found was unsourced paragraphs/sentences but the reviewer did not mention which parts exactly were unsourced.
could you look over the article and mark any unsourced material with a "citation needed" tag?
thank you for your time. RJJ4y7 (talk) 15:16, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

George Francois
Can you please clarify why George Francois is classified as List-Class?--Natsubee (talk) 18:56, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Natsubee: Because that's what you chose when you added the WikiProjects in 2019 - see this diff. Please correct your misclassification. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 22:33, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
Trouted
Whack! You've been whacked with a wet trout. Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly. |
Your attempt to use the combined sections template on the teahouse when a user asked how to make a wiki appears to have failed. I... I'm not sure how to fix it so that's why I"m trouting you, it's a silly mistake you made and so I"m letting you know about it so you can fix it. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:39, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Blaze The Wolf: Fixed by replacing {{tl}} with {{fyi}}. Thanks for letting me know. GoingBatty (talk) 15:46, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- No problem! It just looked like a mess of code to me so I was just like, "I'll let them fix it themself". Just something I noticed while randomly scrolling through Teahouse. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:47, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Teahouse question
Hello! I"m only here to ask you this: Would it be appropriate to ask a question again if I didn't receive a very good answer? I'm only asking because I asked the question Refs that prove an entire "section", however I didn't receive the answer I was looking for as the user who answered, gave me an answer related to the wrong part of the article, and I had then pinged them telling them that it was for a different section, however I still have not received a new answer. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:15, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Blaze The Wolf: I don't suggest reasking the question in the same forum, especially since the question has not been archived. GoingBatty (talk) 16:23, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- Alright. Where do you suggest I ask it then? ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:50, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Blaze The Wolf: I replied at the Teahouse. GoingBatty (talk) 18:09, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Why?
Why in this edit did you change the WIR project banner? PamD 12:59, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- @PamD: While it was not my intent to change the WIR banner, I see that {{WIR-184}} has always been a redirect to {{WIR-00-2021}}. GoingBatty (talk) 14:36, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. Slightly mysterious. PamD 14:48, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
Updating Connected contributor (paid): Cincinnati Art Museum
Hi GoingBatty! Thanks for adding the connected contributor banner to the Cincinnati Art Museum article. I changed my name at the suggestion of another editor. Would you be willing to update the banner to my new name? (EMI Loves Art, formerly known as EMI from CAM). Thanks in advance! EMI Loves Art (talk) 15:06, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Request on 17:29:33, 12 November 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Woodag
Thank you for your helpful comments on my draft:Parsons Restaurant; would scans of the menu and articles I referred to be considered reliable sources?
Woodag (talk) 17:29, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Woodag: Scans of the menu would not be independent sources. Most of the references are from independent reliable sources such as major newspapers and magazines, but don't have enough information for a reader to go find the articles themselves. The noehill.com reference has information about the Old Spaghetti Factory, but doesn't say anything about Parsons. I added a wikilink for you, and think you should remove the noehill.com reference. Similarly, I don't know what value the NYT article about the Great American Disaster has for an article about Parsons. Articles should not have external links in the body for the article. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:21, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
When is a list not a list?
The article Religious symbolism in U.S. sports team names and mascots is clearly a list of Christian schools that call themselves "Saints" or other references to their religious identity, plus a few public schools that identify with the town which was named after a saint. I encountered this article last month and cleaned it up, which removed much of the text as un-sourced and non-encyclopedic. The article has existed since 2010, which indicates that it is meaningful, and other editors have subsequently added to the list, but I could find no references for any additional text content. I put in a move request to have the title reflect its categorization as a list but this received no votes so I left it for now, but expected to eventually do the move as uncontroversial. However your recent edit removed the article from the list category.--WriterArtistDC (talk) 13:20, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- @WriterArtistDC: Hi there! Category:List-Class List articles appears on Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories, which I clean up every month. The category is intended for talk pages, not articles. Before removing the category from Religious symbolism in U.S. sports team names and mascots, I confirmed that Talk:Religious symbolism in U.S. sports team names and mascots was a member of the category, via {{WikiProject Lists}}. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 14:43, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, my participation in WP is rather narrow in spite of my tenure, nor very technical in spite of having been a coder. As an admin, would you agree that article rename could be done as uncontroversial?--WriterArtistDC (talk) 15:46, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- @WriterArtistDC: I am not an admin, but it seems that the limited discussion at Talk:Religious symbolism in U.S. sports team names and mascots#Requested move 16 October 2021 indicates that your proposed move may not be uncontroversial - see WP:RM#CM. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:05, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

- Hi. So in short, I had created a code around one-two years ago to find and replace unexpected wikilinks, but shortly after that I lost all my data. I created the code again, but something was off. I couldnt find it, but I had been trying to fix it. I got most of the quirks worked out, you can see it here: special:diff/1055511043. If I run into some issue again, I will ask for your help. Thanks for offering the help :-) See you around. —usernamekiran • sign the guestbook • (talk) 08:20, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

Request with review of page Ella Ballentine and removal of template message
I would like to thank you for your contribution to the page title mentioned above. As you may know, the page has been flagged, and I placed two messages on the Talk requesting a proper review. Would you be kind to review the page and if applicable remove the template message? Appreciate your time and help with this.
