Oladeji Daniel Olatunji (born 9 December 1996), known online as Deji and formerly known as ComedyShortsGamer, is an English YouTuber and Internet personality. He is the younger brother of KSI, who is also a Youtuber and Musician. As of 22 of February 2022, he has almost 12 million Subscribers on two channels.

Early life

Olatunji was born on 9 December 1996[1] to a family of Nigerian descent[2] in Watford. He is the younger out of two brothers.

YouTube career

Olatunji created his First YouTube channel on August 27th 2011 named TheAngelzKid, renamed to as Deji 2nd. Later on the December 1 2011 he created his primary Youtube Channel named ComedyShortsGamer, later renamed as Deji on which he primarily started to play video games such as Halo and FIFA. Initially, his parents were sceptic of Deji and his brother becoming Social Media influencers but later his parents was drawn upon the success of the channels.[3] Later Deji would collaborate frequently with his Brother, KSI, with videos posted on their own separate channels. He also posted prank and reaction videos featuring his parents.

Deji has been known for his own merchandise line 'Tank' of which is now the main branding of his channel.[4]

Deji uploads a variety of games to his channel, but like his brother, his fame rose due to his FIFA videos such as pack openings, playing matches and the controversial "Slavery FIFA" which he did with his brother. He also does lots of real-life videos with his parents.

Deji mostly does random content, ranging from reactions, sketches, occasional challenges and pranks and music videos which include his various diss tracks on Sidemen members and Randolph. His channel has also been heavily influenced by boxing with him uploading many videos of him training for his amateur bouts.

He used to often feature or be featured with JJ (KSI) in videos, such as challenges or scary games.

He would also often make videos about his cars, such as the Audi TT, which he crashed, his Range Rover Autobiography, as well as his Lamborghini Huracan and his latest Lamborghini Aventador S, the former having been sold after being vandalised.

His second channel, Deji 2nd, mainly consists of gaming videos, as well as some random content. He also streams on Twitch and YouNow.

He was also featured on Miniminter's channel, such as the 'Nugget Challenge' and 'REACTING TO OLD VIDEOS WITH DEJI', as well as on Callux's channel, for his famed Insults Match and more recently an Episode of Mafia with Beta Squad, this consisting of 2 members drawing Mafia cards and the others drawing civilian cards with the civilians objective being to vote out both Mafia members before all the civilians themselves are voted out.

Deji was also featured in YouTube Rewind 2017 alongside his brother.[5][6]

In late November 2018, Deji revealed KSI's personal bank records in a video. This later escalated into a feud between the brothers. KSI later condemned Deji's actions and expressed his disappointment towards his parents for allowing the publication of his financial records. They would later settle their feud between themselves.[7]

In July 2020, Dejis Dog named Tank was announced to be destroyed after appeals of the allegations put upon after his Dog injured a woman by biting the woman twice.[8]

In June 2021, he announced on his channel that he was going to be taking a break from all Social Media 'to work on himself' after being defeated in a Boxing Match. He would later return to Social Media in December 2021.[9]

Personal life

Oladeji Daniel Olatunji was born on 9 December 1996 in Watford, England. His father Jide, is from Ibadan, Nigeria and his mother, Yinka, is from Islington, London and has Nigerian parents. He is the younger brother of KSI. The brother's ranked first and second respectively as the "UK's Most Influential YouTube Creators" by Tubular Labs in 2015.[10][11] In March 2019, Deji announced he was in a relationship with Dounja Akoudad, Known as Dunjahh. In January 2022, he then announced him and Dounja have ended their relationship after 2 years due to Deji primarily focusing on his boxing career.[12] Deji lives in Peterborough mansion with his parents and the family have a German Shepherd dog named Tank Junior. Deji owns multiple cars such as 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S[13], 2016 Range Rover Autobiography[14], 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S [15] and a 2018 Mini Clubman. He previously owned a 2014 Audi TT S-Line which he crashed and totalled[16][17] and a 2016 Lamborghini Huracán[18] which he used to race KSI[19][20], but later sold due to it being vandalised[21]. Deji also bought his father a Land Rover Defender after he was going through a hard time, this was his fathers dream car.[22]

Boxing Career

Amateur Career

Deji vs. Jake Paul

After KSI defeated Joe Weller in a amateur white-collar boxing event on 3 February 2018 he called out the Paul brothers (Jake and Logan) Deji showed interest in fighting Jake Paul which then prompted JJ to fight Logan Paul. Jake agreed after a long back and forth between the Olatunji brothers and the fight was scheduled for 25 August 2018 as a amateur white-collar boxing match. The fight was scheduled to have two press conferences before hand one in Los Angeles and one in London, the first was hosted by two-time Heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs and the second hosted by YouTube personality True Geordie. Deji and Jake had vicious back and fourth's in both press conferences with the first in LA ending in a physical altercation between JJ and Logan. A few days before the fight Deji showed up at a Jake Paul meet and greet which resulted in Jake slapping him[23], causing even more bad blood between the pair. 5 days before the fight Deji released a diss track against Jake titled "Wasteman".[24]

The fight took place in the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The match was the chief undercard before the main event and was scheduled for six three minute rounds. Jake won by TKO in the fifth round. Deji was praised by the UK YouTube scene and Jake for putting up a tough fight. Deji expressed interest in the idea of a rematch, but ultimately said he would be happy to jump into the ring again with anyone.

Deji vs. Vinnie Hacker

After a feud between YouTuber Austin McBroom and TikToker Bryce Hall in early 2021 a boxing match was scheduled between the two. The event was later announced by LiveXLive which announced that Deji would be fighting Vinnie Hacker this card was considered a semi-main event. The event held one press conference which Deji could not attend in person due to Coronavirus restrictions so was on a video call instead. Deji began a heated debate with TikTokers Bryce Hall and Austin McBroom with Austin revealing that Deji was on line to fight him instead of Vinnie but ultimately backed down to fight an "easier" opponent. Deji also had a heated argument with fellow YouTuber Fousey Tube who was hosting the press conference alongside KeemStar. During the weigh-in backstage there was an altercation between Deji and Fousey however this did not get physical and was ignored. Deji was noticeably unfit during the weigh in as it was later revealed after the fight he didn't train much.

Vinnie Hacker beat Deji by TKO in the third round of the bout after Deji gassed out. This defeat let a lot of the UK YouTube scene down as this was marketed as Deji's redemption after his loss to Jake Paul in 2018, and he was considered to have the easiest fight of the night because of the potential he showed against Jake. He was the only YouTuber to lose a fight with all others winning their bouts (aside from AnEsonGib who had a majority draw against Taylor Holder which was then changed to a unanimous decision a few weeks after the fight). Deji posted a video onto his YouTube channel titled "see you soon"[25], this resulted in a 6 month hiatus from Deji.

Deji and AnEsonGib were later stated to be the only two fighters payed by the company as they filed for bankruptcy due to the lack of Pay-per-view sales. This was revelaed by KSI on the impaulsive podcast.[26]

Deji vs. Alex Wassabi

After Deji's break from social media after his second loss to Vinnie Hacker he began uploading again stating in his video "Who Am I Fighting Next?"[27]that he would love to fight Alex Wassabi on the ShowStar UK vs. USA Boxing event before name-calling the YouTuber.

It was later revealed that Deji vs. Alex Wassabi was indeed the main card of the event[28]. The event is scheduled to take place on 5 March 2022 at the Wembley Arena, London.

Controversy

Sidemen

After KSI "left" the Sidemen (YouTube group) in 2017[29], this started a diss track war between KSI[30][31][32], Behzinga (Ethan Payne)[33][34] and W2S (Harry Lewis)[35], Deji got involved after this and his "little beef" with Miniminter (Simon Minter) over twitter and uploaded a music video titled "Sidemen Diss Track" on 11 August 2017[36] where he dissed all of the remaining 6 members which caused Miniminter and Vikkstar123 (Vikram Barn) to respond with their own tracks at Deji. Miniminter uploaded a diss track called "KSI's Little Brother" on 12 August 2017.[37] where he responded to Deji's disses on him and then went on to say that his channel belongs to his dad, he met a drugged up teen (Marina Joyce) and that he wants to "bang" his female fans. Deji responded to this with another diss track "Ungrateful"[38] on 20 August 2017 which targeted Miniminter and had sneak disses at W2S as W2S mentioned Deji in his diss track to KSI titled "KSI Sucks"[39]. Before Deji's diss track on Miniminter, Vikkstar uploaded a diss track titled "The End" on 15 August 2017[40] as a response to Deji after he said "Vikk will straight up never reply, like straight up never".

As of 2022 this beef has been squashed as all Sidemen members have been supporting Deji on his road to fight Alex Wassabi on 5 March 2022. Miniminter has stated multiple times that he thinks of Deji as a little brother despite their beef [41]and described it as "little beef" and has said he has messaged him asking if "they were cool" and speaks to him still now.

Tank Situation

Deji's German Shepherd called Tank bit Deji's elderly neighbour after she entered Deji's property to give the family a parcel[42]. The neighbour was frightened of the dog who approached her out of curiosity, she then hit the dog with the parcel which resulted in the dog attacking her[43]. Deji was fined, while his mother was ordered to pay the victims compensation. After Tank was seized by the police, the court said she did not feel able to take the dog off a lead. She said while most dogs accept a muzzle, she found Tank "was very frightened with the attempts to muzzle him". As well as ordering the destruction of the dog, Deji's mother had to pay £8,000 of compensation to the victim. He also gave her a 12-month community order and 80 hours unpaid work. Deji was fined £2,500, while both were also ordered to pay kennelling costs and given a restraining order from contacting the victims for four years. Deji announced on December 17 2019 that Tank was going to be put down for the event. This story was covered by mainstream British news outlets with footage of the attack and all the legal details.[44]

Deji and his family were distraught after this event and Deji stated it made his father very upset and caused tension in the household. Deji surprised his dad with another dog, in August of 2020, which he stated is part of the same family as his original dog and has the same parents. He vowed to train this dog well and make sure this situation never repeats. His new dog was named "Tank Junior" by Deji's father. [45]

Randolph

In a Sidemen (YouTube group) Sunday in 2018 titled "SIDEMEN FAMILY FORTUNES"[46] Randolph was asked to name a "dead YouTube channel" in which he responded Deji. Deji responded to this roasting Randolph calling him "KSI's Bitch" and went on to roast him and his wife. Randolph made a video response to this and said "it was simply a joke" and "you need to learn to take a joke", he also reminded Deji he is a rapper and he made a mistake by dissing him[47], this prompted Randolph to release a diss track on Deji called "Manchild" on 24 Novemeber 2018 [48]. Deji responded to this with his track called "RAN" on 26 November 2018[49]. In the video Deji was roasting Randolph's wedding and in this leaked KSI's bank statements stating that "JJ paid for your wedding", KSI later said the leaked bank statements were in fact a wedding gift and that he didn't pay. Randolph then released his final track on the matter titled "Victory Speech"[50] on 30 November 2018, this sparked more drama between Deji and KSI. Randolph later stated "the beef got out of hand" and that he is no longer going to answer Deji's begs for attention.

KSI

The beef between Deji and Randolph spilled over between Deji and KSI when JJ reacted to both Randolph and Deji's diss tracks and affirmed the truth of Randolph's disses whilst calling out Deji[51][52], as well as their parents, for exposing his private bank account in Deji's diss track.

Deji then responded with a video saying that JJ had taken Randolph's side and that it was an unfair beef with 6 against 1. Deji then went on to say that he never got a girl pregnant (something Randolph mentioned in his second diss track) but then commented that JJ had, fuelling the drama between them.

This escalated further when Deji tweeted out that JJ had blocked him on social media and JJ responded by tweeting "get rid of negative delusional people, even if they are family" although this was deleted shortly after.

Deji then released a video calling out JJ for preferring his friends over his family and describing his brother as having a god complex. JJ immediately tweeted that he loved his brother and made a video apologizing for certain things. However, Deji then uploaded a diss track titled "Unforgivable" with Jallow, Dax, and Crypt (the people who had dissed JJ in the past)[53]. Some of the disses were calling out the fact that JJ had gotten a girl pregnant and had abortions, though the diss track was made before JJ's video apologizing to certain things was released and Deji uploaded the diss track to keep things fair for the people featured in it. The apologetic tweets and video by JJ were deleted shortly after.

Deji went on the Logan Paul podcast "Impaulsive" to explain the situation and called JJ manipulative and his friends, the Sidemen (YouTube group) fake, only having JJ's back on the surface but not genuinely.[54]

On Christmas 2018, JJ went to his family home, but there were disagreements in their conversation, which resulted in a fight between him and Deji. JJ claimed on Twitter that Deji had kicked him out while their parents just stood there and watched, and Deji threatening to call the police if he didn't leave. Deji tweeted that JJ threatened to smash his computer to make him delete the diss track. Deji also stated that JJ attacked their mom and insulted both of their parents. Deji later that day made another video titled "My bro" calling him a bully, manipulative, and accusing him of attacking and making their parents cry. The video was later deleted, and it is speculated that it was due to subscriber loss.

As a result, Deji lost thousands of subscribers from the drama with his brother, due to him uploading more videos talking about the situation. On 6 January 2019, Deji uploaded an apology video to JJ for his actions, and he deleted the "Unforgivable" diss track, thus "ending" the drama.

However, on 2 May 2019, the drama between the two was reignited when Deji made his diss track that was thought to be deleted, public once again on YouTube.

On the 25 May 2019, he uploaded a serious video, explaining on why he made his diss track public again, and talking about suffering with the psychical abuse from his brother and suicidal thoughts as a result of the latest drama situation. He also called JJ out for forgetting their Mum's birthday.

On 30 May 2019, he made a follow up video called "he's gone too far", where Deji once again called out his brother for trying to find 'dirt' on him for a response video, and threatened his brother with a lawsuit if JJ lied about him.

On 3 June 2019, JJ finally responded to Deji with a video titled "Ending it all"[55]. JJ disputed and confuted all of Deji's claims about him and showed Deji's manipulation and hypocrisy. In the same video, he also apologized to Deji about past videos involving violence and for sleeping with the girl that Deji had liked, stating that he didn't know her. The video triggered another huge subscriber loss to Deji while JJ began to regain his subscriber loss. The next day, Deji uploaded a video titled "moving on", where he stated that the drama was "over" and that he would keep things private with his brother from that point onwards.

However on 18 June 2019, Deji uploaded a video titled "i can't do this anymore", where he came forward and voiced how he was suffering from mental health problems and called JJ out for lying about the woman he slept with. He later had a breakdown and begged people to stop seeing him as a "bad guy". The next day Deji went live on Twitch and told his viewers that he finally agreed to attend therapy with his brother and said he would take some time off the internet to focus on getting better mentally. It appeared that the drama was over after Deji voiced support for his brother in the boxing rematch against Logan Paul.

From that point, there were random, subtle digs at each other in both of their videos. When Deji released his video reacting to JJ reacting to 'Unforgivable', he was subject to a lot of hate and lost around 80,000 subscribers, dropping his sub count from 10,000,000 to 9.92 million."[56]

On 13 May 2020, JJ stated in the Mom's Basement Podcast that there was just no clarity about the issues between him and Deji. JJ said he went to their parents' home but him and Deji did not say one word to each other the whole time.[57]

On 13 December 2020, Deji uploaded a video to his main channel titled "It's Time To Open Up"[58], sponsored by the Movember Foundation, which aims to encourage men to speak up about their struggles and issues regarding their mental health. In the video, Deji starts to get personal and opens up about how he was feeling during the entire feud with JJ. He expressed how he always felt like he was in his brother's shadow and his accomplishments could never amount to his. He explained that his struggles with his own feelings was the reason why he kept going back and forth on his word, uploading videos either bashing JJ, or publicly stating he wanted to move on, as well as privating, then publicizing his diss track on him. Deji breaks down while apologizing to JJ over and over again in the video, promising that he would never turn his back on him again.

Since it's upload, Deji had been receiving positive attention, and his viewers started to message him explaining their own struggles, in which was showcased in a follow-up video on 31 January 2021, titled "REACTING TO YOUR COMMENTS". And since then, Deji has been actively supporting JJ and talking to his audience about how much he truly appreciated him. With that, it seems that Deji is much happier.

After Deji's loss to Vinnie Hacker JJ uploaded a video titled "Deji"[59]where he roasted Deji for his performance in the fight and expressed his disappointment with his brother. This scared both JJ and fans as they thought Deji would respond negatively to these comments made by JJ despite JJ stating it was for the better that he hears those words come from him as his brother over anyone else. Deji responded positively to the video and uploaded a video with JJ titled "Reunion With My Brother"[60]where the two talked about the fight and JJ's video regarding it with JJ expressing his support for Deji and that he will help him out if he needs it in order to get his redemption after his two losses.

JJ was recently seen training with Deji for his third amateur boxing bout against Alex Wassabi and was seen with the camera man for his upcoming Amazon Prime documentary, with fans speculating Deji will make an appearance in the film. This shows the good terms they are on as of 2022 with all beef being squashed between the two.[61] [62]
