Deprodded on the basis that "councillors of major metropolitan cities meet WP:POLITICIAN". Galway is a small city of 75,000. It's mayor would meet the standard, but not members of its city coucil unless there is something special . We have recently deleted the members of the Indianapolis city council; that city has 750,000 population. although we do not go by precedent, I think a certain degree of consistency matters. - Comment Did news search on '"Peter Keane" Galway', got several hits, mostly this guy. The most significant coverage was [1]. He was apparently deputy mayor, not just a councillor. I doubt he's notable, but am not !voting either way. David V Houston (talk) 22:55, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep: Galway is the third largest and the fastest-growing city in the Republic of Ireland - this qualifies Galaway as a major city and therefore, as a City Councillor, he is notable per WP:POLITICIAN. It is a poor argument to say that the the members of the Indianapolis City Council were recently deleted. Were those deletions by way of an AfD, or were they prodded and deleted without discussion? In any event, each AfD should be discussed on its own merits. Pooet (talk) 03:27, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete 75k is not considered a major metropolis. What is intended by that line in politician are cities like New York or London where local city councilors are almost the equivalent of state or federal representatives in terms of notability due to the size of the city. This fellow does not meet WP:POLITICIAN so sources must be found so he can pass WP:GNG. -DJSasso (talk) 03:51, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. Searching by "Peter Keane" Galway Councillor reveals nothing but trivial, local coverage. The nominator is known for a broader definition of WP:POLITICIAN than most, so I am inclined to trust his judgement here. Abductive (reasoning) 04:37, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete non notable local councillor of a small city, therefore fails our notability criteria. Valenciano (talk) 18:09, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete - Fails WP:Politician, only national politicians meet this criteria automatically in Ireland, to be notable he should therefore meet WP:GNG, but he doesn't meet that either. Snappy (talk) 20:21, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. Fails WP:POLITICIAN, a mere councillor for a city the size of Galway shouldn't count. And because I got nailed trying to make the keep argument on one of these Galway ones a few months ago, and we need to be consistent. --Mkativerata (talk) 20:38, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong delete Clearly fails WP:Politician. Enigmamsg 22:19, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - but only because User:Fergananim is so good on Galway.Red Hurley (talk) 18:46, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
