The Calling All Stations Tour was a tour by the band Genesis to promote the album Calling All Stations.

Background

This tour was the first to feature the new lead singer Ray Wilson after the departure of Phil Collins in 1996. There were also changes to the touring lineup - long time collaborators Chester Thompson and Daryl Stuermer did not rejoin the group, with Nir Zidkyahu and Anthony Drennan taking their places respectively.

To promote the album's release in Europe and the United States, Genesis played two acoustic concerts - on 26 August the group performed atop a Berlin Television Tower, and two days later in the United States at the Kennedy Space Center.

Following the release of the album, dates for the first concerts were announced. The Calling All Stations tour was to begin in the United States with 23 arena concerts. These plans were later revised, shortening the tour to 20 concerts in smaller venues, before the North American leg of the tour was postponed, with a delay in the production schedule cited as the official reason. During this time, the band played two radio concerts for small audiences in Copenhagen and Paris.

The tour eventually saw the band play 47 shows in Europe from January to April 1998, with additional headline shows at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals in May. Initially new American dates for 1998 were to be announced, but the tour was eventually concluded after the European leg.

Band rehearsals for the tour were held at the Ex-Service Mens Club in Chiddingfold, with full production rehearsals taking place at Bray Film Studios in Windsor.

Notes

• "That's All" was rehearsed but ultimately got dropped from the setlist
• "Hold On My Heart" was performed on the opening night in Budapest before getting dropped in favour of "Shipwrecked"
• "There Must Be Some Other Way" and "Alien Afternoon" were played alternately
• "Shipwrecked" was dropped after February 19th
• "Not About Us" was added to the acoustic set from March 1st to coincide with the single release
• "Small Talk" was rehearsed but ultimately got dropped from the setlist
• A number of concerts were staged without the use of Jumbotrons as certain venues could not support their weight
