Dlohcierekim, while reverting vandalism on Pine View School, you marked it for cleanup. I was just curious as to whether you had any suggestions for how it might be cleaned up. Thanks! --Starwiz 23:54, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since I think the tag is ugly, I'm going to get rid of it. If anything comes to you, let me know! --Starwiz 00:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your support at my RfA, which was successful. I've got a lot to learn and any advice is welcome as I learn to use the new tools. I appreciated your question, as I would have liked to address it originally but didn't want to be too long-winded! Thanks again, and forgive my use of this dorky message box :) -- Renesis (talk) 00:26, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note to say thanks for your support on my recent RfA. It became clear very quickly that my editing background was going to detrimental to my nomination. Having seen other recent RfA's fail once one or two admins opposed and others just piled on the vote, I decided it would save the ignominy if I withdrew my nomination. I don't intend to change the work I do as it's what I enjoy, so it'll be unlikely I'll apply again. Anyway thanks again for taking the time to review my nomination and giving your support. I think it would be safe to remove the "hangon" tag you added, he hasn't made any attempt to rectify Nashville Monkey 08:35, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Creator removed the bloody speedy tag at least once. I figured I'd help him out. He may not be too happy with us right now. Someone blocked his user ID because it was . . . not a good choice. I'm content to leave the hangon tag in case there is some sort of notability derived from the bands the subject works with. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 08:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello: my picture was deleted. "Image:HaydockTitle.JPEG. Tried to find it on the "Deletion Log" for a reason, but am not sure what to enter for "Title" No matter what I enter there is no record. Can you find out the reason for deletion? It is the title page to a book that is 200 years old. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.20.116.119 (talkcontribs) Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 12:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note.
According to the message from orphanbot, the message was uploaded without a license tag. User:Naconkantari deleted the image Nov.29 for no license tag.
I it take that this was an image you scanned of a very old book. Explain the situation to User:Naconkantari. He might undelete the image. Ask his advice has to how to proceed.

I would recommend the following. Read

Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Fair_use. It has more copyright image tags than I can comprehend. You could try putting a {{PD-old}} tag on when you re-upload the image or if it is undeleted. In the description part and the discussion page put all the information you have about the image, ie ""scanned by me from a very old book. Only image available to illustrate the subject."" That sort of thing. As much detail as you have.

Another possibility is {{HistoricPhoto}}, with the same description info. It is not a photo, but the historic necessity part is the same. It would be a fairuse tag, and we don't like fairuse. We much prefer public domain. If the book is very old, it is probably in the public domain. Hope that helps. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 13:12, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The changing fate of GNAA article

[edit]

I think it says a lot about how our FA standards have changed since last year. Long ago notability was determined by how many AfDs the group already underwent. And that was the opinion of Ta bu shi da yu who had contributed many FAs back then. ;-) Kimchi.sg 00:18, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Korova

[edit]

Hi,
If you want to nominate Korova (Scottish band) for deletion, be my guest. That page started off as an entry in a dab. I spun it off because that was the best way to clean up the dab, but I did not mean to claim that the band is an encyclopedic topic. --Smack (talk) 01:02, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]
  • The concern about my sig is surprising; I've been asked about it only twice in all my career. My sig has always been this; changing now would mean disavowing my former edits and be perhaps more confusing. Some editors think of me by sig, some by username; changing either will puzzle somebody. If I must choose one, I would prefer the sig, which I intended as my wikipedia identity; but I have usually, and may have now, too many edits to change my username, and I do not wish to put that quite considerable burden on WP:CHU. Septentrionalis 18:43, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your note. I guess I'm being overly picky. That's just a pet peeve of mine. It probably should not bear on the AfD. Will strike from my comment. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 18:47, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, my 3RR violation was accidental; I was dealing with a user who was persistently reverting to the same text, and had been blocked before. I lost count over the course of a day and did a fourth reversion in 23:45, instead of proposing an alternate text, as I had intended, or going to AN3 myself. File:In-the-dark.jpg

Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 19:27, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you also for your kind note on my talk page. I anticipate that I will have another attempt at adminship in the early part of the new year. Thanks again. Wikiwoohoo 19:27, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

[edit]
Deepfriedokra/Archive 8, thank you for your support in my RfA which passed on 13th December 2006 with a tally of 49/10/5. I am delighted by the result and a little daunted by the scope of additional responsibilities; I shall be cautious in my use of the new tools. I am well aware that becoming an Admin is not just about a successful nomination, but a continuing process of gaining further experience; for this I shall welcome your feedback. Again, many thanks for supporting my RfA, feel free to contact me if you need any assistance. :-) David Ruben 03:43, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you and good bye

[edit]

After some thought, I have decided that being a Wikipedia editor is no longer for me. I first joined in 2006 and since then it's just gotten too stessfull for my tastes. It's no longer about building a knowledge base as much as it's about determining policy. Newbies get bitten while perfectly legitimate articles and pictures, representing doubtless thousands of person-hours of work, get deleted because "policy wonks" think it doesn't meet the right guidelines or its not good because they disagree on it - be them "notability" (an open-ended sham), the horrifically exclusive new fair use policy on pictures, or whatever else. Meanwhile, editors who continually add nonsense , unsourced and bunk get a blind eye turned to, while legitimate editors are scorned. This is no longer a project I want to be associated with. I thank you however for the help at the start --Markhamman 17:56, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks but there an editor(s) that believe that if you not wiki thier way on the subject of the Halifax Regional Municipality you an automatic sockpuppet of User:Matthvm . It got to the point of being very stressful and in my opinion devalues the efforts of others who want to put quality into wikipedia and make it a creditable and factual source of information . Gosh they even cannot find the right IP of my computer .--Markhamman 16:00, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Bock_color3.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bock_color3.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:46, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jacques_Plante,_Montreal_Canadiens_goalie.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 17:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the Vandalism

[edit]

I'm sorry about the vandalism to those Wikipedia pages from this computer. This is actually a High School computer located in a library where any student can access it. I believe it would be best that you block this IP address from editing pages on Wikipedia. That would stop all of the vandalism that comes from here. Once again, I'm sorry for the immaturity of my fellow peers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.190.160.35 (talk) 20:23, 17 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I am outraged because I see this individual several times a day and he smirks with arrogance on writing bullshit about me.

Your help is greatly appreciated to take down an Asshole who nobody likes and he choses to put his rage on me.

You could try posting a motice at the admin notice board. I will check further and try fo formulate a more constructive response. Cheers, :) MikeReichold 14:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, it looks like the matter has been dealt with with an indefinite block and the deletion of Michael Petrovski. Cheers, :) MikeReichold 14:09, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Dale Walker, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Megapixie 13:24, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
