Raimond Abdurakhmanovich Magomedaliev (Russian: Раймонд Абдурахманович Магомедалиев; born 10 June 1990)[1] is a Russian professional mixed martial artist/sambist, who currently competes in the Welterweight division. He has competed both in Eagle Fc and One Championship.

He is one time combat sambo world champion (FIAS), two-time World Wushu/Sanda world champion and one-time runner-up at World Hand-to-Hand Combat Championships. As a result of his accomplishment in combat sambo, he was awarded International Master of Sports by Russian Sports Ministry, in April 18, 2017.[2]

Early life

Magomedaliev was born on June 10, 1990 in Makhachkala, Russia. Like most youths from Dagestan, Magomedaliev first tried his hands at freestyle wrestling from a young age, and later dabbled into other combat sports like Wushu Sanda and Combat sambo.[3]

Later on his life, Magomedaliev decided to join the Russian military, where he attained the rank of lieutenant[4]. It was during his military service, Magomedaliev competed in various combat sports, where he won numerous medals in disciplines like combat sambo, kung fu sanda, and hand-to-hand combat.[5]

Magomedaliev only decided to seriously pursue a career in Mixed Martial Arts, after he watched an MMA fight on TV.[6]

Mixed martial arts career

Magmomedaliev trains out of both in Eagles MMA[7][8] and Krepost Fight Club[9][10] in his native Dagestan; while in USA he is primarily associated with American Top Team gym.[11]

He made his amateur debut in September, 2014 at Cup Of Russia, where he defeated Alexey Susaev via first-round knockout;[12][13] he did not go very far in tournament.

Fight Nights Global/Dagestan Cage Fighting Championship

March 5, 2015, Magomedaliev had his first pro debut in Fight Nights Global promotion, against Gennady Simonov, where he won by first-round submission via Armbar.[14] In his second pro fight, he beat Dmitry Shestakov by unanimous decision.[15]

In 2016 Magomedaliev fought in Dagestan Cage Fighting Championship, where he KO'd his Tajik foe Jahongir Saidjamolov in the second-round.[16] And in September of the same year, for Fight Nights Global, he TKO'd his fellow Russian fighter Ruslan Zhemukhov in the second-round.[17][18]

In March 30, 2018, Magomedaliev fought in Fight Nights Global for the last time, where he defeated the Brazilian fighter Valdir Araujo, via first-round KO.[19] After this fight, he signed for One Championship with an unbeaten pro-record.

ONE Championship

Magomedaliev had his first fight in One Championship, booked against James Nakashima (former LFA Champion & D1 wrestler)[20][21] [22], where he lost by unanimous decision.[23] In his second fight for One Championship, Magomedaliev defeated Joey Pierotti (D1 Wrestler)[24] via first-round submission (Guillotine Choke).[25] In Magomedaliev's third fight, he KO'd Brazilian fighter Edson Marques at first-round.[26]. In his fourth outing for One Championship, Magomedaliev was pitted against Tyler McGuire, where he won by unanimous decision.[27]

Eagle Fighting Championship

In Janurary 28, 2022 Magomedaliev had his first fight for Khabib's Eagle Fighting Championship promotion debut, in Miami, Florida, against Anthony Njokuani, which he won via first-round KO.[28] Two months later on March 11, Magomedaliev defeated Impa Kasanganay via split decision.[29]
