University of Surrey alumni

There is no wikipedia entry for Mr Adibe and he doesn't show up on a google search. This page is for notable alumni, not just anyone who studied at the university. Either find a source demonstrating your notability or please stop vandalising the page. If you persist in doing so you may be blocked from editing. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 16:07, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message even although your choice of words are rather harsh. Mr Adibe's wikipedia page will soon come up. It is currently on draft. Mr Adibe attended two colleges of then University of London - West Ham College of Technology (now University of East London) and Battersea College of Technology (now University of Surrey) and graduated in 1961. His records are there and University of Surrey sent a condolence when he died. If you give me an email, I will forward it to you. The University also gave him an honorary Bachelor of the University before he died. He was the first West African to graduate in Chemical Engineering from then University of London. He was also the first African student's union president at West Ham College of Technology (1959/1960 session). How else do we define notability for a man who was part of those that defined chemical engineering in Nigeria and was a proud alumni of the university? Also note that there are many people on that page without a wikipeadia page, but you picked out Adibe (even mischievously spelt his name wrongly). Your reason may not be far fetched. Azunna4u (talk) 17:17, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the mis-spelling, nohing mischievous about it, I'm not a good typist, and I resent the implication in your last comment. If and when his wikipage is published, then you can add him to the list with appropriate references. I suggest you study WP:Notability to understand why you need proper references to reliable sources.
As to your rude comment, I have removed a number of non-notable entries from the page, though I may have missed a couple. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 17:26, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I had no rude comment. Instead your first message to me was UTTERLY rude. That's not how to address someone politely. You may go on to insist anyways. Azunna4u (talk) 17:43, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what that last sentence is supposed to mean. Nothing rude about my first message. It was a polite request to stop what appeared to be vandalism. Insinuating that I had racist motivations for deleting your entry is certainly rude. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 17:49, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It means you have no idea what being polite means. I insist on what I said. You may know what your motivations are. Not like I care anyways.
Let me even ask you, what did you think that I would be doing on a Wikipedia page not to talk of vandalism? Does the page put food on my table? Other than the fact that Adibe had connection to the school, I have no business even opening the page. I will add again when the Wikipedia page is ready and you can remove it if you want, for all you care.

Azunna4u (talk) 18:13, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I really have no idea what you are talking about. Please read the guidelines on notability that I linked to above, also those on reliable sources. You will need to understand those before publishing your proposed article. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 18:29, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback. I reckon that you may want to see these references to know how deep they discussed the subject. Unfortunately the man operated mostly at a time that there was no internet in Nigeria. As such most of the reference are hard copy. I do know that they discussed the subject well. For example, the referenced 1959 student's handbook has been preserved over the years at a keepsake. I have it here with me but there is no way anyone can see it except I sent it or they source from the school. I have asked the schools he attended for clickable links for reference and they declined and instead offering to issue confirmation letters. I do not know if letters are accepted here either. The Thisday newspaper article by Mr Okolo was more of a biography with many details. Stuffs like that. Azunna4u (talk) 02:18, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Theroadislong. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User talk:Azunna4u that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:32, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Theroadislong: Please what message are you referring to so that I take correction? Azunna4u (talk) 17:36, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"It means you have no idea what being polite means. I insist on what I said. You may know what your motivations are. Not like I care anyways." seems rather uncivil from somebody trying to promote their own father on Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 17:45, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong: Oh I see, that wasn't part of this draft at all. It was from somewhere else entirely and I was just new here. I even thought it was someone from University of Surrey. If you check the time, you would see it was clearly before I made the first submission of this draft. I felt the person was rude too but anyways I take that back now. I have learnt a few things about Wikipedia since I started this draft. Thanks. Azunna4u (talk) 17:53, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Azunna4u! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Achi, Enugu that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Jeraxmoira (talk) 18:37, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Jeraxmoira. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Achi, Enugu, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jeraxmoira (talk) 18:38, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
