Head of Admissions made edits
I just thought it should be brought to the attention of those who view this page that username Scunitz is Stacey Cunitz, the director of admissions at The Crefeld School —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.225.192.242 (talk) 21:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Addressing major problems with this article
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi, I’m an employee of the Crefeld School and I’d like to request the removal of improperly-sourced controversial content that’s currently on this article. It’s entirely sourced to claims made on podcasts and Instagram posts. I’ve searched for “reliable sources” from the press and found none.
Point 1:
What should be changed:
Please remove the The Crefeld School#Sexual abuse section. Here’s the section as it is now:
Sexual abuse
On episode 970 of the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, comedian Annie Lederman discussed her experiences at The Crefeld School.[1] When discussing the podcast on instagram, she said "any parent considering sending a kid to The Crefeld School in Chestnut Hill, PA should know exactly what happened to me. Besides receiving an utterly substandard education...I was sexually assaulted by a Crefeld teacher. I reported him to faculty, the principal, my parents, and the police. Everyone I was supposed to. I took him to court where he pled guilty. The details of how I was treated at The Crefeld School are in the podcast. Here I’ll just say my worst nightmare is to have a child go through what I did at Crefeld. "[2]
Annie Lederman discussed her experiences further with Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast. When discussing graduating early while being ostracized by Crefeld staff and students, Annie noted "I was in court. I was a problem...she's about to find out about the rest of us that are molesting everyone. They couldn't believe it, that I told on everyone."[3]
Annie Lederman noted in an interview with Dr Drew that she has received numerous reports about other students getting molested. She noted, "The amount of incidents we found are insane...we keep learning more about how deep it goes...how the teachers that were molested were molested by their teachers who were there."[4]
While being interviewed by Ryan Sickler, Annie Lederman expanded on her experience at The Crefeld School.[5] Annie claimed that, at 15, she was told by Crefeld staff that she "needed to wear less suggestive clothing...the male teachers are having trouble concentrating."[6] She noted a teacher was busted for "looking down seventh graders shirts." The same teacher "turned his school laptop in, forgets to take the kiddy porn off."[7] After rejecting an invitation to an alumni gathering due to Crefeld's conduct, Annie asked, "Where were you when I was in court, when I was assaulted by one of your colleagues." Within 24 hours, she received a response claiming "the school is different now...I was new there that year and I didn't feel comfortable stepping in."[8]
Why it should be changed:
There are no reliable sources for any of this – it’s entirely based on user-generated content like podcast interviews, YouTube videos, and Instagram posts. I looked for any reliable press coverage and could find absolutely nothing out there to replace any of this with information based on appropriate sourcing. Any journalist would have allowed Crefield School to respond - which it can’t currently include on Wikipedia since there are no sources about the allegations. Kmodarelli (talk) 18:13, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Kmodarelli Items removed. The removed information was from a primary source. To keep the information, it should be from reliable, secondary sources. Regards, Spintendo 17:12, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Please listen to it. Thank you so much for having me, Marc! Initially I asked Marc to edit out the name of my high school out of an irrational fear that somehow someone from the school would "get me." but I regret it, because any parent considering sending a kid to the Crefeld School in Chestnut Hill, PA should know exactly what happened to me. Besides receiving an utterly substandard education, (One class was called "movie class," in which we literally just laid on pillows and watched movies.) I was sexually assaulted by a Crefeld teacher. I reported him to faculty, the principal, my parents, and the police. Everyone I was supposed to. I took him to court where he pled guilty. The details of how I was treated at the Crefeld School are in the podcast. Here I'll just say my worst nightmare is to have a child go through what I did at Crefeld. This is still all very scary for me, I'm just done protecting the people who didn't protect me. Thanks again to Marc and his producer."".

Request for admin help due to edit warring
This request for help from administrators has been answered. If you need more help or have additional questions, please reapply the {{admin help}} template, or contact the responding user(s) directly on their own user talk page. |
Hi, if any admin could please assist I would be very grateful for your help! This article is now mired in an edit war because anonymous IP accounts have added inflammatory and damaging content that is entirely based on inadmissible sources such as podcast interviews and Instagram posts, and have refused to accept the judgments of experienced editors who have attempted to remove this content – which by the way obviously fails WP:RS. This inflammatory content was removed recently by an experienced editor, User:Spintendo, who reviewed it in response to my COI Edit request. (As I noted above in a previous post, I am an employee of the school.) It was then restored some days later, and on very shaky grounds, by a brand-new, single-purpose anonymous account.
Since I do not want to cause an edit war by trying to rectify what is obviously inappropriate content for Wikipedia while staying within the rules, I am wondering what can be done at this point to prevent the reinsertion of the content in question by anonymous IP accounts from happening to this article over and over again? Would it perhaps be possible to place the article under semi-protection so that this doesn’t continue to happen?
Thanks very much for your time! Kmodarelli (talk) 13:49, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- I've reverted the last edit made by an IP on October 1. The disruption has to be recent and persistent to justify protecting the article. However, I've put the article on my watchlist and will keep an eye on it.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:43, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
- User:Bbb23 Thank you so much for your help with this! I'm really glad to know that you'll be watching the page in case this happens again. Kmodarelli (talk) 20:21, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
Crefeld Staff may be editing articles without disclosing conflicts of interest
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/23.24.60.137
This IP address has vandalized The Crefeld School article multiple times over the years. During their most recent vandalism--which was an attempt to remove the exact same material that KModarelli took issue with--they were warned about disclosing conflicts of interest and told continued vandalism would result in a ban from that article. This suggests that the IP was linked to Crefeld.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:;lkjom
This user also made edits to Crefeld's page. They were warned that the wikipedia article is not a brochure page for the school. They also editted this talk page; they changed "Head of admissions partakes in misleading edits" to "Head of admission made edits" without disclosing any conflict of interest. This is an odd edit for someone not affiliated with the school to make.
How can we ensure that Crefeld staff do not continue to make misleading edits without disclosing conflicts of interest? 2600:387:3:805:0:0:0:54 (talk) 14:20, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
