The BaD Radio Show (short for Bob and Dan) is a midday radio program on 1310AM The Ticket. The show is hosted by Bob Sturm and Dan McDowell and airs Monday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm.
History
The show started on The Ticket in July 1999 and has since become successful with such original bits as Dude What’s Your Bit?, Gay or Not Gay, and Homer Call of the Week.
BaD Radio gained national attention after an interview with ESPN College GameDay's Lee Corso. What started out as a cliched collection of Corso's college football yarns, quickly turned unexpectedly awkward and increasingly tense after ESPN's clown prince of college football (ironically) objected to good-natured ribbing from McDowell. McDowell playfully insinuated that Corso had posed nude (referring to Corso's college roommate, Burt Reynolds, who had laid out for Cosmopolitan). A heated on-air exchange ensued, with Corso eventually departing in a huff.
Since the interview, BaD Radio fans across the college country have embraced a shared hatred for Corso and have famously picketed Corso's ESPN College GameDay pregame show, parading derogatory signs which suggest that "Corso wears a Merkin" and "Corso has a baby arm".
Bob and Dan have been named "The Best Sports Talk Show" by the Ft. Worth Weekly.

BOB STURM
Originally from Wisconsin, Bob graduated from Liberty University, and started his broadcasting career in Lynchburg, Virginia. He eventually came to Dallas in 1999, where he became the co-host of The Ticket's midday show. He is affectionately referred to as "The Sturminator", but is also known as "The Dude in the Next Cubicle". Bob is often called a "sports bully" on the show because he constantly intimidates his audience and guests with his encyclopedic sports knowledge. Bob also hosts the Dallas Cowboys pre-game show with Super Bowl MVP Larry Brown, as well as the Dallas Stars post-game show with Dan McDowell. Bob's Blog is updated daily.
DAN MCDOWELL
Dan is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and graduated with a degree in Sports Science from Ohio University. He hosted a midday show in Youngstown, Ohio at WHIO, and eventually moved to Dallas in 1999 to become the host of the The Ticket's midday show. The show supports Dan's recent vegetarian proclamation and frequently celebrates his lifetime meat-less marathon commitment. Dan also hosts the Dallas Stars post-game show and is an occasional guest on the Ben and Skin Show. A self-proclaimed "sports humorist", Dan is best known for his scalding sense of wit. He is also despised for his notorious "The Death of Barbaro" joke series.
DONOVAN LEWIS
Donovan is the show's sidekick and newest member. He is known to his audience as "The Great Donovan", "Urine, "Stink", or "Donnie-Doo", and is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha. Donnie has several regular segments, including Daily Donovan, where he visits a variety of sports and sports- related topics, and the wildly popular Ghetto Jeopardy. He occasionally co-hosts the Dallas Mavericks post-game show with Stuart Seder.
TOM GRIBBLE
Tom is the show's producer and eats diabetic crackers. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Tom graduated from Texas A&M University (where he was a Yell Leader), and started his radio career as an intern for Kidd Kraddick where he, according to Dan, fathered Big Al. While with Kraddick, Tom earned the nickname "Flakeboy" during a stunt where he went to a supermarket and asked for a single flake of cereal. In one of his more daring bits, Tom enters a crowded restroom during a hockey game and approaches people with questions about the game while they are urinating. This is known as the The Gabby Urinator Bit. Gribble is also a former Marine who served in the Gulf War.
MICHAEL GRUBER
Given to a life of poverty, young Michael (or "little Gruber" as he is fondly referred to) grew up on the tough streets Highland Park, Texas. Norm Hitzges, noted Dallas radio personality, took Grubes in and employed him at the Ticket. Since then, Michael has slowly risen in the Ticket food-chain and become the BaD Radio board operator. Grubes enjoys his position at the Ticket, board opting both the Ticket's midday and afternoon shows, where he practices the subtle art of black humor. Grubes can frequently be spotted at Dallas watering hole The Barley House, usually within 3 feet of his leader Danny "Paul" Balis.
Line 4 Guy
A mysterious listener who often participates in the segment Why Today Doesn't Suck. Line 4 Guy was recently inducted into the show's Ring of Honor.
Show Segments
Guest Booking League - this is a seasonal bit wherein all the members of the show attempt to score a big-name guest of the show's choosing. Each member of the show compiles a list of guests they would like to have on the show. Each member must then attempt to book a guest from the aforementioned list. By the end of the season, who ever books the least amount of guests for the show are relegated and forced to perform some shameful act. 2005's GBL loser Dan was forced to pose in a speedo and sit in a dunk tank where he was humiliated and ridiculed for hours. The 2006 GBL: Run of Shame featured a race between the two losers of the GBL Donovan Lewis, who ran in a Catholic school girl outfit, and Ty Walker, who ran like a baby in a giant diaper.
1920s Reporter Guy - a segment where Scoops Callahan asks celebrities questions in an Edward G. Robinson voice. His most notable appearance was after a Dallas Stars/ Phoenix Coyotes game when he approached a defeated Wayne Gretzky. Scoops' past victims have been Mack Brown, Vince Young, Sidney Crosby, Peyton Manning, Lebron James (twice), Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson, Roger Clemens, and Will Smith.
Gay or Not Gay – a segment where the show engages discussion about manly etiquette. In the past, Bob and Dan have ruled that a guy driving a Mini Cooper is gay, Bill Belichick's snow bunny headband over his ears is gay, a guy with briefcase on wheels is gay, and a dude who is too busy planning his wedding is gay.
Bob Knight Show - a weekly segment with the surly Texas Tech Basketball coach. On one memorable occasion, Knight serenaded Dan--crooner style--on his birthday.
Homer Call of the Week – a segment that reviews some of the most emotional and over the top play-by-play calls from around the sports world. Mike Haynes of the Colorado Avalanche is the bombastic sports broadcaster whom Bob and Dan credit for birthing the Homer. Some of the most intriguing and humorous sports Homers have come from SMU's own Craig Swan, who has generated the most Homer Call of the Week nominations. The 2007 Homer Bowl had split winners: "Depauw Basketball" and "Mexican Singing Soccer Guy praising Paul Scholes and Manchester United". The decision to crown two champions was highly controversial.
S.A.A.A.Q Test - a segment that tests the intelligence of sports athletes. Rick Arnett originated this bit.
Ex-Con Roundtable – inspired by the HBO series Oz, this segment involves a discussion between ex-cons that tackle penitentiary do’s and don’ts.
Daily Donovan – a segment where Donovan Lewis comments on a variety of issues, ranging from what is on Bob's iPod to Dan's appearance in local news and the like.
Why Today Doesn’t Suck – a segment that reviews celebrity birthdays and highlights their contribution to humanity. Also features The Hardline and pilled-up Line 4 Guy.
Dude What's Your Bit? – an interview segment that’s devoted to washouts, hobos, and the clinically-insane. Dan usually performs this bit where he and the gang are out in California for Cowboys mini-camp. Dan goes down Hollywood Blvd. and gets funny by harassing the local homeless.

BaD Radio Ring of Honor
The BaD Radio Ring of Honor is a hallowed institution that honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the show.

BaD Radio Curse
The show has been accused of cursing the lives of its many guests. Several celebrities have suffered severe, season-ending injuries and/or public malady after appearing on the BaD Radio Show. Gabe Kapler was the first known victim of the show's curse, having sustained a season-ending injury while with the Texas Rangers. Other victims have been Bobby Knight, Brad Wilkerson, Dan Campbell, Bill Guerin, Gary Matthews Jr., Drew Bledsoe,Nick Van Exel, and even Liverpool Football Club. Although a direct correlation cannot be made between the show and its guests, many believe the show invokes an evil jinx on its guests.
