Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Contributor00001 (talk | contribs) at 09:35, 14 December 2023 (Request for redirection of page). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

  • Tu Tithe Mee  Tu Tithe Me (film) (move · discuss) – removing disambiguation with same name TV series 49.33.216.242 (talk) 15:22, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Depending on the source, the third word of the movie's title has been translated as either "Mee" or "Mi". The TV show is titled "Ti Tithe Me" (different third word) in all sources that I can find. The film and TV show probably do not have the same title at all. Therefore I think this request can be satisfied with hatnotes, which I will add now. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 01:51, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The show's dialogue, production, and promotional materials are in Turkish, so I believe the standard here is to keep the Turkish title for the article. It would be awkward to use a translated version of an American show's title just because it is distributed to other countries, and this request is simply the reverse of that. The alternate English title "Time Goes By" is already mentioned in the lead paragraph. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 01:58, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That IMDB page when the first-matching language in the browser’s (system’s) language list is English shows the title Time Goes By because IMDB always shows a title in the browser language if the work was ever released in a market using that language, even if the work is obscure in that market. When the first-matching language in the browser’s (system’s) language list is Turkish, it shows the title Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki. Stephan Leeds (talk) 06:30, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is also an Ozzy Osbourne song with that name, so it's not unambiguous. Bensci54 (talk) 18:33, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That song doesn't have an article. WP:SONGDAB is a longstanding naming convention which states that "unless more than one article about songs of the same name exist, there is no need to disambiguate any further." 162 etc. (talk) 18:37, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This request needs more evidence, as major news sources in India have used the "Judeo" spelling: e.g. [1], [2], [3]. It appears that his son spells the surname differently. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:25, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It does not appear to me that it is "consistent" to remove the leader's first name from the related ministry articles. See the article titles linked in this template, which may or may not require a whole bunch of requests like this one. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:30, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sources use 'Mhade' with an 'h'. ❯❯❯ Raydann(Talk) 21:59, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
