Swamp Beast

[edit]

In the Swamp Beast episode there was an anecdote about a 1829 Florida encounter with a Bigfoot-like creature, which killed members of an expedition sent to hunt it. I've found no references on line to any such story. Does anyone know where this piece of MonsterQuest originated? It sounds like a made up boogeyman tale, but it would be interesting to read the original account. Bryce (talk) 00:14, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aha, found a reference. It was termed the "Man Mountain" and in the story killed 5 men before dying of gunshot wounds. http://home.cinci.rr.com/kd8afh/Pre1960.html Bryce (talk) 00:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reads too much like an advertisment

[edit]

I've read over the article, and it seems like the entire thing is a copy-paste of the promotional material. This being an encyclopedia, I think the article should be a bit less leaning toward an ad for MonsterQuest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Southern guy (talkcontribs) 02:58, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

It reads like an advertisement because most of the info here is ripped off directly from the History Channel -> see here for just one clear example. This article was started by Superraptor and if you look at his talk page, you can see he is clearly notorious for ripping off other sites and pasting the info here. He even made refs back to the pages the info is taken from, so it wasn't hard to figure it out. If I have time, I'll try to overhaul this page, but I'd say a majority of it as it stands now violates copyright policy. Cyberia23 (talk) 20:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I got rid of what I felt was taken from other websites as well as the lengthy promotional info that is inappropriate here. Cyberia23 (talk) 21:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Monster Spiders

[edit]

Sounds like the Goliath Bird Eating Spider to me. As to the one photographed in Iraq, it sounds like a Camel spider. Agree? Disagree? Powerzilla (talk) 01:03, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's exactly what they're after in Iraq: camel spiders. The Goliath Bird Eating Spider is large, but they're looking for something bigger. –Sidious1701(talkemail) 00:15, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Third Season

[edit]

I just wanted to know if you know if there is a third season. I love this program ~~Io_Wiki2007~~ (talk) 22:51, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably. Please use the article discussion to comment on the article itself. It's not a "fan forum". Cyberia23 (talk) 06:54, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I wanted to add:

  • the current MQ logo and
  • info/details about the purple-eye transition

to the article in a new section, but User:Cyberia23 wouldn't let me.

The edits were reverted without, at least, an edit summary to describe and explain the changes made. Should it be added anyway? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.134.52.191 (talk) 04:02, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1) We really don't need a second logo - more than one image per page could start to push the boundary of copyright and fair use. (see Wikipedia:Non-free content) Only one example is needed and we already have one, a screen shot, and to keep uniform with other TV show articles for History, an opening credit screen shot is preferred. Just because Monster Quest likes to change their opening credits every season doesn't mean the article has too. One example is fine. 2) Do we really need to know about scene transitions? Does anyone really care? It's more information that is necessary for this article. The article covers what it needs to already. Cyberia23 (talk) 17:56, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is a new logo for season 4. Maildiver (talk) 22:18, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Season 4?

[edit]

History has announced a new season on commercial ads. I think it began on the "Killer Jellyfish" episode. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.74.131.74 (talk) 09:19, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it's still season 3 - then again history's schedule is backasswards and changes all the time without warning. Cyberia23 (talk) 04:54, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On 7/22/09, History Channel ads were saying the new season of Monster Quest started at 9:00 pm that night. The episode that was on, the one that was to premiere the new season, was The Real Cujo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moviematt (talkcontribs) 17:39, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest I think they say "new season" with every new episode commercial. Doing some research I found that Season 3 "Set One" (a 2 DVD set) has been released which has the first 8 episodes, "Death of Loch Ness" to "Monster Close Encounters". MQ Seasons 1 and 2 were released as complete DVD sets, but it seems now that History is splitting them up like a lot of other TV networks are doing. Anyway, I'm assuming "Set Two" will have 8 more episodes which would be "Lake Demons" to "The Curse of the Monkey Man". If there is a "Set Three" then it would make sense since there are apparently 8 more episodes to go "Killer Crocs" to whatever the last episode will be "The Real Moby Dick" maybe? Set Three could be "Season 4" however I see no evidence of this so far. The website is pretty vague and rarely updates, but it's still saying "Season 3". We'll see what happens but I think we should keep the latest episodes under Season 3 until we know for sure. Cyberia23 (talk) 18:04, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Season 4 was announced before commercials for "The Real Cujo" and ""Terror From the Sky" has a new opening sequence. Maildiver (talk) 22:17, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
With every episode advertised on TV they always say it's a "new season" when it's a new episode to be shown for the first time. I never heard them say "season four". And as for these "new" opening sequences, like two things have changed... they show that grey creature's face now instead of just the eyes, and some lizard thing romping around. Otherwise it looks identical to the later episodes of season 3. However I'm not going to edit war over this, and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. We'll keep season 4 for now, but if I find it's still 3 it's turning back. Cyberia23 (talk) 15:25, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Truely

[edit]

I watched they episodes and it got put into official document, Rods and Chessie were Discredited by MonsterQuest. It's debatable weather they found Giant Squid or not. Should we put this on the page? 71.218.198.159 (talk) 03:45, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No - all we need is a list of episodes and what they were about. Want to know more watch the show. By the way "weather" is a state of the atmosphere in regards to heat, cold, cloudiness, precipitation etc... "whether" is a conjunction, expressing doubt or choice between alternatives. Uploading Screenshots

[edit]

To Cyberia:

How did you upload title screenshots (like of Monster Quest and UFO Hunters) from television to computer? --66.74.131.74 (talk) 09:10, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhhh... ancient Chinese secret! It's not difficult, you can watch episodes of the shows like Monster Quest online. When the title comes up I hit pause, then take a screenshot, do some minor editing in Photoshop and create the final picture. You them come to Wikipedia and click on "Upload File" on the left side there and follow the instructions given. Easy. Cyberia23 (talk) 16:41, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MonsterQuest Has Been Cancelled

[edit]

Just wanted to announce that MonsterQuest has been cancelled. The History Channel has decided not to renew it for a fifth season. I would post links but they are to a blog, even though the blog owner (Loren Coleman) has worked with MonsterQuest. On his site he has a statement from the executive producer.BoyintheMachine (talk) 21:31, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The producer made an announcement on Cryptomundo about it which is good enough. They said Sierra Sasquatch was the last episode but America's Werewolf aired the following week. I'm not sure if this means there are more 4th season episodes left to go or if that is the final episode. If more are scheduled to air then I will keep it updated. Cyberia23 (talk) 16:50, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about a redirect?

[edit]

Could we redirect Monsterquest to the page for MonsterQuest? This page does acknowledge the alternate spelling, although currently Monsterquest goes to a generic "this page does not exist" page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.79.44.126 (talk) 20:42, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why? When you type "monsterquest", or rather "monsterq..." into the search the link for the spelling of the show "MonsterQuest" appears for you automatically. Cyberia23 (talk) 06:21, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done Why? To accommodate other articles that link to it using the improper capitalisation. Of which as of this writing there are two. -- œ 12:56, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Extra spaces

Should we keep the extra spaces and line breaks for readability reasons? serioushat 07:14, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
