This is my first contribution to wikipedia. Jörg Meyer-Stamer was a teacher and mentor to me. He is widely cited, and I will ask some of the people that worked with him over the years to contribute to this page. I know very little about his childhood.

The sections on his work, especially on Systemic Competitiveness and Local Economic Development must still be expanded.
