merge proposal

[edit]

seems obvious enough: Kenora, Unorganized, Ontario is clearly mistitled unless it's a reference to un-municipal parts of Kenora District. I'm not an Ontarian, and don't know what's up here, but saw fit to (hopefully correctly)_ place the merge templates.Skookum1 (talk) 22:06, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is all the unorganized bits of Kenora, so no, don't merge it. -- Earl Andrew - talk 22:15, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is a division listed by statscan. It is an entity that does exist, so the articles should stay. I've removed the merge tags. vıdıoman 00:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Kenora District

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kenora District's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "cp2001":

  • From Haliburton County: "Population and Dwelling Counts, for Canada, Provinces and Territories, and Census Divisions, 2001 and 1996 Censuses". 2001 Census. Statistics Canada.
  • From Hastings County: Statistics Canada 2001 Census - Hastings County
  • From Lanark County: "Population and Dwelling Counts, for Canada, Provinces and Territories, and Census Divisions, 2001 and 1996 Censuses".

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:27, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion between territorial districts and DSSAB districts

[edit]

The article claims the district has a seat and that it is the City of Kenora, and claims the district's website is the site of the Kenora District Services Board. I presume this is partly due to the Kenora District Services Board having its boardroom in the City of Kenora. In my opinion, there is no district seat and no website of the District of Kenora.

On Wikipedia, I see that the ten districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Rainy River, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timiskaming - which are presumably territorial districts - have been confused with the ten districts each defined in a schedule of O. Reg. 278/98.

O. Reg. 278/98 defines one district for each of the ten district social services administration boards. Within the District of Algoma, there are two of such districts defined: the district for the Algoma District Services Administration Board and the district for the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board. Similarly, in my opinion, there is no district seat and no website of the (Territorial) District of Algoma.
