- Well, it does sound a little PRish, but that's a rewrite not a deletion. Proxy User (talk) 03:46, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Pronunciation
[edit]So, is it "Life-Ray" or "Liferee"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.195.181.230 (talk) 13:59, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
It's "Life-Ray"--like the opposite of death ray. =P — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.5.118.46 (talk) 02:42, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Request for edits to Liferay Wikipedia page
[edit]Hello,
I would like to request an update to Liferay's Wikipedia article that makes note of the company's new product offerings. Per advice from User:ToBeFree I believe it is contrary to Wikipedia policy for me to make these edits directly as I am currently a Liferay employee. Please find my proposed edit here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Yotaml2/sandbox/Liferay

- After discussion on User talk:ToBeFree/Archive 1#Liferay Article, and under reserve, I have made the following changes:
- The discussion on my talk page contains suggestions on how the article could be further improved. I recommend updating the sandbox with the current version of the article. Thanks! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:44, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
Request 2, 31 July 2018
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Per the discussion here - User_talk:ToBeFree#Liferay_Article I would like to make one further request for an edit. Specifically, I propose that the sentence "In May 2016, Liferay introduced an expansion of the original Liferay Portal to offer additional functionality such as engagement metrics." to read as follows: "In May 2016, Liferay introduced Liferay Digital Experience Platform, an expansion of the original Liferay Portal designed to offer additional functionality such as engagement metrics." The reason I am requesting this change is not in order to be promotional. Instead, I feel that the edit should be made for two reasons. First, simply saying that the company released "an expansion" would lead readers to wonder "what expansion?" Second, the Liferay Digital Experience Platform replaced the Liferay Portal. Liferay Portal no longer exists as a standalone product. The way the sentence is currently written implies that A) the Liferay Portal still exists and B) some form of expansion has been made to it, which is not accurate.
- May I suggest the following wording:
This wording answers the question "What expansion?" by telling the reader that the expansion involves additional functionalities being offered by the digital experience platform, which is a successor to the Liferay portal. Please advise regarding your thoughts on this. Also, if you could provide a reference for this information, that would be helpful.[a] When ready to proceed, please alter the request template's answer parameter to read from ans=yes to ans=no. Thank you! spintendo 00:39, 22 August 2018 (UTC)In May 2016, Liferay introduced an expansion to the original Liferay Portal, now called the Digital Experience Platform, which is designed to offer additional functionalities to those previously offered through the Liferay Portal.
- May I suggest the following wording:
Notes
- ^ A reference would need to be provided for this change to be made.
- Thank you User:Spintendo and User:ToBeFree for your assistance in this matter. I'm still new to the editing process at Wikipedia so I appreciate your guidance. The edits proposed by User:Spintendo look good to me. I would simply suggest that the first sentence read "In May 2016, Liferay introduced an expansion to the original Liferay Portal, now called the Liferay Digital Experience Platform..." I make this suggestion for the purpose of accuracy and clarity. First, the the formal name of the product is "Liferay Digital Experience Platform" not "Digital Experience Platform." Second, there are several other Digital Experience Platforms that have nothing to do with Liferay. For example, from BloomReach - https://www.bloomreach.com/en. As for your request for a source, I believe the article already cites an official press release from Liferay announcing the change: https://www.liferay.com/press-release?title=liferay-announces-a-platform-for-the-digital-enterprise — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yotaml2 (talk • contribs) 21:14, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- The changes should be in parallel. In other words, it should be one of the following:
- ...Liferay introduced an expansion to the original Liferay Portal, now called the Liferay Digital Experience Platform...
- ...Liferay introduced an expansion to the original Portal, now called the Digital Experience Platform...
- If we're going to short-form the name in one place, we should do it in both. It is clearer to use the full name in both places. Based on that, I endorse the tweak in wording as proposed by Yotaml2. —C.Fred (talk) 21:19, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Done I've been bold and made the following change, based on what I saw above:
- In May 2016,
Liferaythe company introduced Liferay Digital Experience Platform, an expansion of the original Liferay Portal, to offer additional functionality such as engagement metrics.
I hope changing the subject of the sentence to "the company" removes some of the repetition in the sentence. —C.Fred (talk) 21:22, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi C.Fred, Spintendo and ToBeFree, would it be possible to add in a "Recognition" section to the Liferay article similar to what one of our competitors, Episerver, has on their article? Yotaml2 (talk) 23:41, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Yotaml2, thanks for pointing out an issue in the Episerver article. I think we should avoid copying that self-promotional mistake to Liferay. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:40, 19 March 2019 (UTC) (reply)
