Book Form

[edit]

The Morgyn stories were combined into a single volume entitled 'Morgyn the Mighty:The strongest man in the world.', published by London: D C Thomson and John Leng & Co no date, 1951(?). No author listed. Full length book with continuous storyline based on the character introduced originally in the famous boys' paper 'The Rover' in 1928, the Beano in 1938, the Rover again in 1951 and the Victor in 1963. Hardback, blue cloth boards, 236 pages, several illustrations by Dudley D. Watkins.with listed as the author. The books are avidly sought by collectors, especially those few still retaining the dust jacket with a striking illustration of a heroic image of Morgyn as a Herculean figure modeled on the costuming and poses of the professional Strongman of the period, and brandishing a spear like Tarzan.[1]
