POV fork?

This article reads like a bad WP:POVFORK of Greek genocide and Pontic Greeks#Genocide and population exchange, which overlaps considerably and covers this much more tactfully. I think this fork is in theory notable on its own (though a better title would likely be "Greek genocide in Pontus"), as the genocide in Pontus seems to be distinguished from Smyrna and Thrace in academic literature. However, due to the sensitivity of the topic, the article needs to be exceptional, which it currently is not. Curbon7 (talk) 06:58, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is not WP:POVFORK, since there is consensus and no ongoing dispute about this on both Greek genocide and Pontic Greeks. Here are many sources and citations, which are not included in those articles, topic is important and self-sufficient. I understand that the article is not ideal now, but let's improve it instead of deleting. Demo66top (talk) 19:26, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Flaws

I don't have an opinion on whether this is a PoV fork, but the text starts out with a nonsense claim: "was the extermination of native Greek people". Native Greeks are Greeks born in Greece - what is meant is something like: " was the extermination of ethnic Greeks (native to the Pontus region ??)" . The next phrase is also ambiguous "the extermination of native Greek people who lived in the Pontus region … of Ottoman Empire in 1914-1923", this implies that the Greeks lived there between 1914-23, rather than that they were exterminated at that time. I have to go now but will make a rephrase suggestion later if I can.

Many refs used and much text conflate the Pontic and Greek genocides. If this article is to not simply be a WP:POVFORK, it needs to clearly distinguish between the two events and only use refs that refer specifically to the Pontic event EXCEPT when the text is clearly referring to the broader event. This is not the case at present.

Examples of conflation include some of the death estimates and (seemingly) all of the Govt recognitions. Pincrete (talk) 05:48, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
